I know I not the only one here who has seen this Series/movie. So is the signal still alive? Or am I out of gas?

Watched both. Enjoyed both. Too bad it was cut short.
Dollhouse is pretty interesting.

it's a shame they had to cram the last 2 or 3 seasons into a 2 hour movie. That would have been an awesome series to watch. Speaking of which, what the F happened to Battlestar Galactica season 4 on DVD?

I've heard the new Battlestar is good, but I too haven't watched any of it.
Now that you mention it, I can see it, but no, I thought it was art work from an anime' movie or comic.
Speaking of anime' "Appleseed Ex Machina" in Blu-Ray was really good.

looks like they just released episode 4 on DVD yipee.
the first 3 seasons were really good, but they're pretty dark and I guess it would be hard to do a cheery presentation of humanity's extermination. The Cylon's are mostly metal, or "tin can's as the humans call them. There are 12 flesh models though, and some of them are HOT

Well maybe I'll watch an episode someday. Just not today. It can't be all bad it get good reviews. I just don't want to ruin my memories of the Lorne Greene versions. Childhood memories are always better when in your head. Then we watch the 25 year old shows and shoot it all to hell with are new found wisdom/views.

Funny you should mention that.
I first saw Star Wars when I was 4 years old. I was tainted for life after that. I've watched the original unmolested 1977 version around 600+ times in the last 35+ years.
I was talking to a friend of mine who didn't see Star Wars until she was 32. She just kind of shrugged it off "Meh...it was ok, nothing special" I told her it was because she was jaded by life and couldn't see the movie for what it was. She just couldn't understand my devotion to the ancient relig.....wait no that's not it. She couldn't understand my devotion to a movie made in the '70's. She lambasted the "crappy" special effects. Then she slapped me in the falcon...I mean face ( figuratively ). She said Independence day was a better movie because the effects look better. WTF??! That movie had no character development, shallow story line and has a rewatchability value of about 0.0001%! Women!
Maybe I was having delusions of grandeur

To this day when watching the MOLESTED VERSIONS of Starwars ,I cringe at the added so called "Bonus special effects" Han talking to, Jabba ,singing muppet thing, and the absolute worst offense Anakin's ghostly visage with Obi- one replaced with that new kid. If you want to do this to movies at least make it an alternate version and give us a choice if we want to see your crappy ...ahem revision.

Amen to that.
Back to the original question dturco -- I have never seen Firefly *or* Serenity. But I have the full season of Firefly on DVD and keep intending to watch it so I can watch Serenity.
I was a huge Babylon 5 fan. Sounds like Firefly would have been at least as good if it had been given a chance to develop.

Hmmm... I never saw Firefly, but if it was anything like Serenity, then I'll pass. I had some buddies over last year when I first had the theater up and running, and we watched Serenity on HD DVD. Everybody was pretty underwhelmed - even a little disappointed. Even one of my sci-fi friends wasn't impressed.
I thought the acting and production values were very good in some places and pretty pathetic in others. Because of that, it had a very "made for TV" feel - which totally turned me off. I guess based on the first part of the movie and all the fans' comments about how great the series was, I was expecting something more refined and better executed. For me, anyway, it started off pretty well, and went down-hill the longer it went on. By the end, it seemed more like a TV pilot than a movie. Sorry. Signal not received.

S C Yep it's not for every one. And it is sort of made for T.V. as it was made to keep the very loyal Browncoats appeased/happy.
And has done that well.

If you try and watch the movie without watching the series your in for a big dissapiontment. It's all about the opening theme song to the series. I think it's the coolest theme song ever written for a TV show.

Dammit, who the hell bought up this topic. Every time I think about I want to burn down the Fox studio's for f*cking it up and then canceling it, MORON's.

X2 on all aspects.
if you did not see the series the movie would have been disappointing.
if you did see the series the movie ties up a lot of loose ends.
the ones it leaves hanging are somewhat handled by the Graphic novels that were release by Josh.
I have PDFs of these of you are a fan. You cannot get the novels "comic books" anymore.
I loved the show but like most, didn't get turned onto it until after it was canceled.

Coolest ever? Seriously? It's good, but I don't know about coolest ever... Wait, was Firefly a sci-fi series or a western? Just kidding - I get it.
Hey, if you like that theme with a little fiddle and pickin', check out the Deadwood theme, which in my opinion is even a little better. It sure sounded awesome with the beautifully-filmed title sequence on HBO HD. I miss it for sure. Watch it in "HQ" mode...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuvIU0-84kU
Oh, and probably one of THE best title sequence/theme/show opens I've seen/heard in years was John Adams - Another HBO production and BEAUTIFULLY done. Gives me chills every time I hear it...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6DPeCXV5bI
If you've never seen the John Adams miniseries, you must watch it - it's excellent. EXTREMELY well done in every way.
But, I digress...
