It's all about the opening theme song to the series. I think it's the coolest theme song ever written for a TV show.

Coolest ever? Seriously? It's good, but I don't know about coolest ever... Wait, was Firefly a sci-fi series or a western? Wink Just kidding - I get it.Hey, if you like that theme with a little fiddle and pickin', check out the Deadwood theme, which in my opinion is even a little better. It sure sounded awesome with the beautifully-filmed title sequence on HBO HD. I miss it for sure. Watch it in "HQ" mode...SC

Well you'll notice I said theme song as in someone actually sings. The links you put up are good theme music or scores, but they're not songs. They don't really say anything about the show either, where'as Wheedon's song captures the spirit of Firefly.

[Oh, and probably one of THE best title sequence/theme/show opens I've seen/heard in years was John Adams - Another HBO production and BEAUTIFULLY done. Gives me chills every time I hear it...
If you've never seen the John Adams miniseries, you must watch it - it's excellent. EXTREMELY well done in every way.
But, I digress... Wink

I haven't seen it, but I hope it's honest. A lot of times these shows about the revolutionary period and the old west romaticize the history and either ignore or gloss over the facts, like while expousing Jeffersonian Democarcy old Thomas was a very rich man who owned other human beings as personal property and even had sex with his slaves. Or that the old west was really made possible only by the genocidal extermination of the native peoples of North America.
I think it's also why I prefer shows like Firefly or Lord of the Rings, if it's fiction then there can be no element of dishonesty to it.

I loved the show but like most, didn't get turned onto it until after it was canceled. Sad
