Hi everyone,
I am a newbie with some questions....I have been looking into a home theatre in my basement for some time. Since DLP and 3 lens LCD look like crap and prices for 3 chip DLP are horrible for my budget, I decided to get a decent used CRT. It's a RUNCO DTV-933(NEC????) It came bare with just the unit......no remote, no manuals, and no Processor?!?!? So what would I need to get the best picture quality that I can get? Can I use a PC in place of a processor? Where would the processor hook up?(I have 6 twisty-type connectors on the front with two VGA) Which connections on the front would give a better picture? Where should I start? Where can I get a remote for less than 30 bucks?

Read this first:
http://www.curtpalme.com/CRTPrimer.shtm
That gives you your signal options. The manuals are in the same section, under the NEC PG series.
Setup remote- hard to find, check eBay. Not under $30 though, figure $50-100. THey are discontinued, and new they were around $100-125 or so.
Hookups- read the FAQ, don't plug anything into the SVGA connectors, you need to use the 'twisty' ones (normally called BNC).
Read the site, all the questions are there somewhere (but geez, no one else has jumped in to assist a bit here? C'mon guys!)

Welcome to the hobby!
If I'm not mistaken you can't do anything without the remote. There is a "pronto" remote that you can program and I believe those Harmony remotes can be programmed too if you fail to get the NEC remote... The Harmony remotes look so much better anyways, but $250 for a nice one $300 (on sale) for the top end touch screen one, but you can use it to control your entire setup, so it makes it worthwhile.
I have a 9PG+. You are in for a lot of work and tweaking to get the picture looking good, but when you do, you are in for a real treat.
All the manuls are on here, plus there is a great setup guide that was done with a NEC XG I think, but it's totally relevant.

Here's my setup and even that isn't quite how it is now (at least you can see what I have going). I don't have the HTPC or Wii hooked up right now. I also run the HDMI out from the PS3 to the projector and not through the receiver.
Basically, it goes:
PS3> HDMI/DVI cable> HDFury> box1040> 25 Ft Python VGA/BNC cable> projector
sound is optical to receiver from PS3
it does 1080i beautifully. With a really white background you can see scanlines at 3 feet away. You'll be sitting much further back so no big deal.
You only really need a DVD player or Ps3, vga-bnc cable, the HDFury (gives you an HDMI input) and a receiver to make it work.
If you want to do it on the cheap, just to get it hooked up and running to see what it's all about, get a 25 foot vga-bnc cable and run it from the VGA output of your video card.

Pick up a remote from someone or on ebay, you will need it. Read a lot of the articles on this site. Doing a proper set up is crucial. What are your sources? Many people do not use scalers anymore, you may not need one.

if I don't need a scaler, then what would I need to hook up the BNC connectors to and get a HD 1080i result?

My guess is a 12v trigger that operated an electric screen or curtain system when the power is turned on. You don't need to use it.

Get an HDfury. Run HDMI-DVI to the Fury, then plug the VGA-BNC cable into the other end of the fury and run it to the projector. That's how I ran my high def cable box for a year and it worked well. Hopefully you have an optical out you can run to a receiver for sound.

The Runco's are usually in much better shape than the equivalent NEC's...you might have a very nice projector there.
