|
|
OK, need some help guys, trying to get my Runco 1101 running finally
I have a red and blue tube fully installed installed, no HV lead to the green or neck card for it in the unit ovbiously, if this is a problem let me know
when I power on the PJ I get the following:
a red light on the control board under Error, it is steady
on the G2 board I get a solid red light on scan fail, all other indicators perfect
on the RGB input board I get a solid red light
on the Vert def/scan board I get a solid red light
the SMPS has its green light on
the EHT board has no lights on
there is no HV in the unit at anytime
red/blue tubes filament is lite
neck card green lights are on the blue and red
when the set starts and the above is shown on the boards it runs for about 10 seconds, then shuts off, then it trys again and shuts off and tries for a third time and shuts off after 10 seconds, after the 3 identical try the unit stays off in standby
thanks for all the help
-Gary

ok semi update, I am a dumb-ass, I had the J4 connector on the controller going to the motherboard under the tubes, it is supposed to connect to the RGB input board
so lets start over now, as things have changed:
when I power on the PJ I get the following:
normal controller lights including a block match with my input
on the G2 board I get a solid red light on scan fail, all other indicators perfect
no lights on RGB board
no lights on the vert def/scan board
the SMPS has its green light on
the EHT board has no lights on
there is no HV in the unit at anytime
red/blue tubes filament is lite
neck card green lights are on the blue and red
set runs forever and doesn't shut down now, no HV yet either

You are exceeding my knowledge of Barcos but I am pretty sure scan fail will kill the high voltage so your issue is probably why the device is in scan fail. Assuming you have double double checked all your connections I wonder if you issue is the disconnected green tube? I have never run a Barco with less than a full tube complement so I don't know what the implciations are for operation.

thats what I was thinking
vice versa, wonder if the set will give a scan fail on the G2 board if there is no HV
my EHT is in question at this point
thanks

connected up the green yoke, focus and neck card, fired her up and scan fail was gone totally, but a putrid burnt electronics smell started pouring out of the unit , still no HV

I tracked it down to the RGB board around a cluster of caps and they look normal
strange

keep sniffing, its very hard to pin point. Smell each cap if its one of those it be warm and you will definitely smell it. If its not there look for any resistors or small diodes or transitors. If you have a magnifying glass look over the boards with that too under a strong light...burnt parts are hard to visually spot sometimes.

seems to be the green portion of the RGB board, makes since being I connected everything up(yokes focus neck card) minus having the tube in there, it must have not liked that very much

This sucks,I was hoping you would have this running with no problems.
Every symptom you are describing is exactly what was happening to my 1101 and in the end it was the G2 board, replaced it and it was all O.K.
Hope you have it going soon.

Dave, just got a new G2 board yesterday, nothing still, I think it is the EHT board
that and now I cooked my RGB board
hey, another quick one, what is usually the issue when you press a key on the internal remote and the error LED comes on solid? as long as you hold the key it stays lite solid
thanks

Dunno,my internal remote never worked
Are you sure it's the error led?coz those led's are a little off centered and can be deceiving as to which one they belong to.
Dave

Dave, they are confusing, I counted them and it seems to be the error light

HAve you tried adjusting the H/width pot on the smps (p2) to see if the pic comes in?

if and when I can figure out with this is I certainly will
I did get the scan fail to be completely removed from the system, but in doing so I fried my RGB board being I had the neck card and magnetics connected up inside minus the tube, it must have not like that at all
I saw a transistor inside on the RGB board on the designated green portion of the signal glow bright orange
anyway, that is not a biggie, RGB boards are 70$ and I may even be getting a mod set from someone soon which that would include anyway
my problem is no HV at this point and the error light on the controller lighting when a key is pushed
nothing is happening on the EHT so I am thinking it may be that, just got a new confirmed working quad so it has to be the EHT, it blew a fuse last night so it pretty much confirms it

ok, just reseated a bunch of connectors and checked a few things, now we are cooking
the PJ powers up fine, no errors, the hardwired remote works, I changed to port 4 and got a good image sync with proper green lights on the RGB board, everything is perfect
the scan fail light on the G2 is only on because of the disconnected green tube stuff, so that is out of the way
my only problem is no HV at this point, I disconnected the HV from the quad to the splitter block and still no HV, it is the EHT board
that and a new RGB, my green LUG on the way and I am rockin, I am so close I can taste it
