I will actually play with it when I get re settled, It is an all analogue unit though, and the software was on the Laptop, Have to find the disk now .

I have been recently considered the TV One . When I heard about the new Gamma firmware upgrade, the scaling performance and throw in the blending, it really is an all in one box solution.

Just reading this Im not sure anyone has really helped the guy. Why not just list the type equipment necessary and then how to plug it all together. If you want to discuss price well thats another discussion!!!

I believe Nash did. You need two pjs and a blender. The TV-ONe is a scaler as well.

Yep you sure do need those but what about the PJ itself. Does it need COG etc.

Something I have always wondering is why can't a HTPC do blending/stacking?

I was looking at the matrox tripplehead2go and I started to wonder this, as shown in this image http://www.guru3d.com/imageview.php?image=13164 on this page http://www.guru3d.com/article/matrox-triplehead-2-go-digital-edition-dvi-review/3

Does blending just consist of overlaying(about half way into each image) the two projector images to create a 16x9 image or does it take the two 4x3 images and touch them together?

I believe stacking is putting two projectors on top of each other and overlaying the entire image to increase the brightness.

I realize this is kinda the holy grail of CRT's but I haven't really understood how it works.

TV-One policies. Not allowed to post..this is why Andy has never posted them either and asked the buyers not to post what they paid, we can get them much lower than retail, and if we start posting and the buyers do they wont sell to us, then we can loose out on good deals for every one.

Hope you understand

Athanasios

TV One gives out list pricing for Europe, but in the past I have received emails from the Dutch distributor saying they are no good, as we need to get these from the UK, here are our higher than list prices. Believe I complained about that horrendous marketing in Andy's thread over on AVS at the time. Bad move on the part of manufacturer and its distributor.

Athanasios, What is the interface like? Is it as easy ( or easier) than the 'Zilla?

When the east coast sales rep came to my diner to meet me I already had the units...he could have saved me lots of $$$$. But He gave me a price list and told me to sell what ever i wanted from the catalog he can get me and I could set my price(he gets credit as I buy them directly form him). the prices I gave the few people who PM'ed me Is'nt really worth it for me to advertise I am a distributor. I just wanted to help people who are interested in the highest quality blend solution for a far cheaper price than the DiVentix solution. The 2400 list price for the C2-2250 is retail rice Tv-One sells direct or when they actually do a install through one of their Authorized retailers(not distributor). I would just distribute the Products and thats it..all support and/or returns would be through the east coast sales rep or direct with TV-one(if i did this i'd add another couple hundred to the price). That is one reason I am not that gung ho on selling, but if you really want the units at the best price possible i'd be willing to help out.

Its not really that hard, and I have not delved into the PC based controller software as I cant get it to sync using bootcamp on my mac.. but the resolution editor PC software works great and I think is an awesome tool even for just figuring out bandwidth and timing figures for use with other Scalers as the numbers there helped with my lumagen. With that editor you can create any resolution you want and add it to the TV-One unit(this can be done on the front panel also but more tedious) and see what the pixel clock will be and other pertinent info, its really cool. its in the support section of their web site if you want to download it and mess around with it.

http://www.tvone.com/tech_support_software.shtml

Also they have an edge blending tool i have not looked at yet but plan to soon
but it is suppose to walk you through the whole blend process.

It can, I've been using VLC to blend 2 x Barco 801s for a coupl e of years now. Its not perfect, but it does work and not bad for free.

Check the edgeblending threads here in the crt forum, or the TriTube section of the French www.cinetson.org forum (edit: direct link: http://www.cinetson.org/phpBB3/tritubes-f7/edge-blending-warping-t18773.html ).

I've not seen those links before, or not that I remember anyway!
The ones that got me interested in it are these:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=692824
http://www.avforums.com/forums/crt-projectors/219126-edge-blending-contrast-modulation-twin-projection.html

The information in the previous links are a little out of date now. Cedric Cocquebert who developed the panoramix plugin no longer supports this, as he doesn't use CRT projectors anymore. In theory it is still supported by the Videolan team however.
The 0.8.6 version is now very old, however unfortunately the latest 0.9 release versions of VLC have a bug rendering the panoramix plugin unuseable. (A bug is filed here: http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/2364)

But, there is a 0.9.0 version which I have been using for some time, which is mostly stable (the odd crash here and there, as it is still an early build of the 0.9 series).

The VLC plug-in should work even better/easier with cheap fixed array based displays, like little lcd boxes, so no reason to discard it due to lack of crt's. Guess his students didn't like the promised projects, like windows (direct???) drivers, with gammacontrol, and more.

Blending doesn't work 100% unless you can achieve total black. With an LCD etc as I understand it you will get a light gray band in the blend zone due to the two overlapping gray images at low IREs.

Correct. The top-end blending processors actually elevate the gray level of each digital projector outside of the blendzone to balance with the gray+gray=lightergray effect in the blendzone. As if the gray levels of d!%!#@| weren't bad enough already.

I saw a curved simulator with a couple of digitals three years ago. It looked like crap. The guy demonstrating it seemed happy with it or was it oblivious?Very Happy I saw another digital blend that had a major blend zone. I don't understand why a company would rent booth space at a show to display something this bad. What do you tell a potential customer? The blend zone will go away as the bulb ages.Smile
