For those who were not paying attention a cross party, cross nation, unilateral assault took place in Redstone Arsenal Alabama! Bruce and I just won a total combined of 7 2004 build date VDC 8500 Ultras that were to be used in the Longbow simulation training.!!!!! I am getting two for a conversion to 9500LC's so two sets of high res tubes with factory fitted Hd145's are going to be for sale, this will help me pay for these babys!!! I will let Bruce post more details on his conversation with Nathan at VDC about these PJ's.
Some pics
Even though they are not 9 inch sets we do suck !
If any one wants us to pick up theirs ,if they won any, we can ship them for a small pick up fee. let us know !
of course i have to confirm this with Bruce.
I am soo Giddy right now!!
And do not ask what we won them for...I am just having fun teasing you all right now!

I wondered who was bidding on those. I hope they are brand new considering the $650 plus price tag. I believe there was more of them. Who got the rest?

There were 15 all together. i only wanted 2 if i could get them for under 1200 each. We decided to bid on all 15, he chose 10 to bid on and I took 5 to bid on, we lost a few low ones some how, , I looked at one and it had 12 minutes then a minute later it was at 2 minutes, something was not jiving on a few of the auctions. These are in fact bran new. The longbow training facility went with 9500LC instead so these that were custom built went up for auction. Bruce knows more as he talked with nathan at VDC and the warehouse supervisor. the Nice thing is these have new hd145's factory installed. it be neat to see how they made the plates for those lens'. Joust want to get a set of the plates to duplicate?

Hey I just got home, I still can't believe you let the cheap ones get away .
It should be fun to see what these actually have in them, They are special build to order for Boeing and
Should be some nice upgrades in these units, built in Gamma might be nice .

Curt and I were watching those. I tried to convince some military friends that they needed to call in some shipping favors and take a run at them, too.

I'm still trolling for a 2035-03P VIM and 2,4,6 magnets, so if any are being parted out...

Notice the LB at the end of the model designation
I heard a few different stories and the Comanche was one I so I called VDC with a serial number and they were special order "Long Bows " for a comanche project I guess .
I kind of thought you worked there .

I cant wait to go get them. They Should be nice, i wonder if the warranty cards will still be valid for us? I guess we need to ask nathan at VDC.
Some went very cheap, i think i did well on my two combined...if i stoped with my first one i think i did VERY well then, But I wanted two for the blend so i had to bite it and go a bit higher. i was planing to stop at 1500 per PJ and I did better for sure!!!!
I hope to go next week to get at least my two and maybe Bruce's if I can get a free panel truck from a friends business.
I wonder if any improvements were made on these 2004 models compared to any earlier ones. And I cant wait to see how they mounted the HD145's

The orginal paperwork sent them to a Gov contractor (had the contract for the simulator). But they are all marked with comanche paperwork.
I did not open the third but the pallet strap was adjustable and easy to slide off - I had looked at them monday - all of the opened ones had the remotes/cords still in them - but one did not have the top foam.

Now it decision time for me guys, Any input will be appreciated.
What path should I follow with these.
1)Use them as is in my blend I am planing.
or
2) Re tube them with the the Thomas 9 inch tubes.
Pros of going with 1)
1) Instant Blend
2) I wont have to wait for new bellows to be made for the re-tube to 9"
3) No VNB mod's for fitting the 9 " thomas tubes I have
4) can use up these tubes and always upgrade later using my 9" Thomas Tubes
Pros of going with 2)
1) 9 Inch Tubes!!!
2) LC Housings
3) HD10 series lens's which I have seen both and are much sharper than HD14x series
4) get to use the new red C-elements form the group Buy out
5) Bragging rights of having two 2004 9500LC ultras!!
6) have stock pile of tubes for re tubing
7) Sell the SIX 8 inch tubes and hd145's with housings as a package deal to help pay for all my crap i now have.
What would you do guys?
Athanasios

I would lean with #1. Why take apart a brand new projectors? Then you open up the whole LC chamber can of worms. New 8" projectors in a blend should be sweet. Unless the green tube would work in my NEC.

I vote 1A
1. Get the blend done. It's BE-U-TEEFUL!
a. get MP to mod your boys. The expanded bandwith will do wonders for the end product.
