Hi. You need to look at Curt's tube condition guide above. If the tubes are really worn, the projector is worth a lot less money. I wouldn't mess around the anything below an 8500. There are some great deals on 8500s out there.

You seem in a bit of rush if you ask me. I remember when I first got involved in CRT projectors, I was the same way and the first projector I bought was the most expensive one I ever bought and the worse one I have had (it was one of those completely "cursed" sets that was always breaking). Honestly slow down and take your time and learn about the pros and cons of each model and what to look for. There really is no hurry as these things are NOT getting any more expensive. Plus you might just be surprised what turns up when you least expect it. Trust me, I never thought I would own two 9" CRT projectors (one top of the 8" one that I have had for the last couple of years). Those two 9" sets were found by me last week not too far from you (based on your location) and they were had for a song (relatively speaking).

as someone else already said, for $1500. a Marquee should be refurbished and come with warranty. If it's a surplus warehouse machine and they say "lights come one, appears to be working fine but no further testing done then $1500. is WAY too high. More like a few hundred from those guys.

ultra is indeed what is being sold. however is the ultra designation also liquid cooled lenses? and how will i be able to tell in e-mailed photos?

8500 ultras also came in AC units, so no it might not be an LC ultra. But the boards alone can be worth 1500 to the right buyer. I new FGM board from VDC alone is 1600. Aslo say you do get this and one of the Ultra boards is bad, it will cost more to find a new working Ultra Board. But I agree tube condition is very important unless you have a stock pile of new tubes Very Happy

Draganm, How much did you end up getting for the ultra set of board you had for sale?

My first PJ purchase was easy. I found a Sony 1252 in a pawn shop. Emailed Curt on how to see the hours counter and bought it.

Then I decided I liked Ampro 4000 Curt had. Whooops. Laughing He went above and beyond with the tech support on the Ampro.

Curt backs what he sells.

Hi

I was in the same position as you 2 years ago. I really wanted a CRT. The best thing I did vas to buy it from a well renowned person in the CRT world. (Jarri in Gothenburg sold me an 8500 LC)

Even if you read the setup section it is hard to imagine how many different settings there are that needs to be well adjusted to get that deep filmlike picture. It is not "plug and play". You will probably need support or spareparts some day and the best way to get it is from the seller. Second best is to get it from here (no offence Very Happy )

Good Luck. Per.

I think you will be very happy with the Barco. They are also relatively speaking very easy to setup.
