Well we just sat through Top Gun on BRD. Thumbs Up

Awesome! I was surprised I didn't have to refocus the projector, but I do need to fix the aspect ratio. The displayed picture was a little too tall. Any pointers there if all we have is a standard dvd test pattern disc?

We did have a nervous moment about halfway through the movie when it looked like the sync was going away - the screen got real sideways jaggy, but that stopped after a few minutes. I'll reseat what cables and connectors I can get to inide the pj tomorrow, but attribute that to it not being used for a good while. I was using the short cable from the hdfury into the pj. (Also got lucky and had a cell phone charger with the right plug that I reversed the wiring on and used to power the hdfury.)

Thanks again everyone for the pointers - this is easily the best image quality we've seen on this system. We'll be tweaking focus and aspect this weekend and best of all - firing up the popcorn machine!

Very Happy

Cheers!
Dan

Pop the test pattern DVD into the player and use it to adjust the aspect ratio. The PS3 will upscale it to 1080i for you.

Excellent! Thanks.

Now I just need to take another look at the IFB12's switches. When things got wavy last night, I pulled both h/v and the picture stayed up. (it got darker, but stayed in sync. hmmm.)

Edit: Dang. the video essentials dvd we have is the fullscreen version. time to buy the brd one. Mr. Green

Ahh sounds like the IFB 12 is set wrong. Do you have the manual? Is it the IFB 12 or IFB12A?

It's the IFB-12A and was set for RGB. I actually bought this card new from Sony when I first got the HTPC going.

Should I set this to Y/Pr/Pb for best quality? (making the H/V bnc cables pointless?)

Idon't know about your input card (I use a Moome Exd-HD into the projector using vga to rgbhs cable); but I will say that the output from my PS3 to the projector was essentially identical on screen whether out at component or HDMI into the Moome box (both 1080i)

No don't use it for compoenent. Anything over 576P makes it turn green.

I have had a couple IFB-12 cards here ( I think one was a 12A ) and they are the only card that will work in a Sony1271 switcher when paired with the HDFury1 because the buffer their output. IFB-10, and IFB-11 didn't cut it.

HDFury1 doens't support component just RGBHV

Thanks, I was able to confirm that rgbhv was the only way it works yesterday while adjusting the set. I'd get no sync with either h or v disconnected. No telling what went on that squiggly time, but we sat through the horrible Miami Vice movie last night without any problems surfacing.
