Hi guy's,

We were just talking about old game consoles in the "Official Screen Shot Thread"

Thought I would make a new post.

How many of you still play the clasics?

What consoles did/do you own?

Me. I play them when i get the time, i prefer the older games. Funny thing about them is once youre
good enough, you can finish most of those old games in an hour or 2, and its ALWAYS the same, yet
ill play them over and over and over again. Newer games i have that can takes weeks to get through,
ill play once, then wont play it again for 2 years, if at all.

Ive still got these: (most are stored away)
Sega Master System
Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in the US) and CD and 32x
Nintendo (NES, SNES, N64)
NEO-GEO home console and MVS machines
Playstation (the first one)
Panasonic 3DO FZ-10

And i had a Sega Saturn, which looking back i shouldve kept.

Ill get some shots later on when its not the middle of the day, but til then, i have a shot of the NEO-GEO on the old Mitsubishi Wink

Lately I've really had the urge to replay Ocarina of Time on the N64. I've probably beaten the game half a dozen times over the past 10 or so years but it never gets old. Maybe I'll set up the 1041q to play it because I won't have my new theater up and running for months.

My favorite game of all time is still Mario Kart for the Super NES. My SNES broke years ago, I've been looking for a cheap one for years but to get a used SNES and Mario Kart game seems to cost around $100 on the used market. I can't justify spending $100 for a game/system I won't use much.

Chris.. check out this emulator if you want to play some SNES games for free. I used this a few years ago, and it worked- not sure about the roms, I believe they were available on the usenet at the least- I may have some backed up if you cant find them.

I've yet to find a controller you can use with your computer/emulator that has the feel of the original SNES controllers Smile

A friend of mine soldered the wires from a NES controller to the keys in a PC keyboard and used it that way to play the emulator.

That's a brilliant idea. Microcenter down the street had $2.99 keyboards. What to do, what to do, what to do........

Considering the topic and the hacking keyboards(which I will use), you guys may appreciate the case I'm building for my daughter's first computer. The monitor is a dirt cheap touch screen from ebay since the little 1.5 year old can't keep her hands off computer screens.

Hopefully I'll finish it before she starts drivers ed.

SNESkey is a hell of a lot easier then soldering to a keyboard:

http://snespad.emulationworld.com/manual/manual.html

Support for up to five individual SNES controllers
Support for up to five individual NES controllers
Support for two NES Four Score (four controller) adapters
Support for Sega Genesis controllers
Support for Atari 2600 joysticks
Support for up to three Atari 2600 spinners (a.k.a. driving controllers)
Support for standard PC joysticks (including joy pads)
Support for a Gravis Game Pad Pro (GrIP)
Support for a MS Sidewinder (two, three, and four pad support coming)

All wired to a parallel port. Hasn't been updated since 98, but works awesome. I've got a dual setup NES/SNES that I've been using since 1996 or so.

Very simple but he did that back in 1992 so none of this stuff was available. Guess he was a Pioneer

That could be an option that I didn't even think of. I'm still toying with how/what I'm going to integrate. I figure the touch screen will act as a mouse, but it still might be good to integrate a centipede like roller ball thing. Happs controls is no help. Too many options.
