Well I now have all the hardware to vacuum bag whatever I come up with for a design. I have some stretch release film on order along with some carbon fiber and resin supplies from US Composites.

Because of the expense of the materials, I don't want to make any mistakes so I'm going to begin by trying to duplicate a couple of small parts first with the finish I hope to get. When I'm comfortable with the weave, mixture and pressure of the process, I will then look for a chassis to design a cover around or get my hands on the existing molds.

You guys could get an stock case and have them remade via vac forming out of sheet plastic. Then just cut out the holes and away you go. They would be much lighter than fiberglass and simple to do a fit and finish. the best part is the stock case is your mold. This would probably be cheaper than all of the Hand work and specialized process.

I found a link online that describes the process and does the forming.
Here it is.

I've got a useful tool to bring to bear... A 74CFM vacuum blower capable of pulling something like 11" Hg. I used it for fast evac of large bags when laminating stringers for my last boat.

I don't think the molds that ended uo in Ohio are worth having. Best to start from scratch.
Derfla indicated they were a mess.

What ever their condition, I'll bet it would take way less time to correct them then start from scratch. I have not seen them but all it would take is to repair the defects and put a new high gloss finish inside the mold. What you make with them will reflect their condition. If they really suck that bad then perhaps looking for a loaner set of covers to make new molds from will do it. I don't have a problem starting from scratch but not if I don't have to. If I do start from scratch, it won't resemble anything that's already been done. A whole new design.
