Hi everyone. I had my technician work on marquee 9500 lc ultra and we experienced a couple of problems which we cant figure out!
Things that we experienced when installing the projector:
When using the HDMI input, the picture was overscanned In both sides with no possibility to get it right.
The picture was bigger than the picture, and it was possible to move the picture inside the picture.
It looks like a blanking problem, but all blanking was off.
It was not possible via the remote to get In touch with any setup or adjustment on the HDMI board.
When going SD in via the component input, there was no overscan.
also the setup has been set to make the picture show 1080p but during a ISF calibration the picture showed that it was only a 1080I.
Even though we made a ISF calibration i feel that some of the dark scenes are much to dark this is what I imagine can be adjusted with the gmma x remote but as I stated the remote is not working.
Im using a bluray player connected to a vp50 which then connected to the marquee
Ive installed a multi input VIM card into the projector!
Any advice is appreciated!

I'm assuming you have blue ray into the HDMI in which case overscan is normal because of the porch sizes on Blue Ray and even HD-DVD had this. You need a video scaler to adjust it or you can just not worry about those last 5 centimeters on the sides. I don't think there's anything really important in the movie happening over there.

Im not sure what a video scaler is. Is it like the vp50 I already have or? Any Idea about why my remote isnt working for the gamma or why my picture isnt showing a 1080P picture?

I've got a couple of suggestions:
1) Read the manuals for the set and the VP50, it sounds like it's been plugged in without anyone really knowing what it does. The VP50 is the scaler.
2) Not sure of the qualifications of the technician you have, but it sounds like he might be more familiar with digital sets over CRT. (that's very common nowadays). I'd post your location here, and see if someone more familiar with CRTs can assist, even if they are not ISF certified.
I'll bet the above sounded a bit rude, but that's not what I wanted it to read. You've got the right equipment, you just need to know how to use it. The more you as the end user end up learning about the set, the better off you'll be.
Cheers!

You need to do "user" resolution from standard resolution thats found at VP-50 output menu. Firts there were adjust that needs to set to "advanced" (found at: menu->config.->user mode) then you can do "user" resolutions from standard 1080P. You must adjust horizontal front-/back porch values until picture fits to screen. Do that with conjunction marquees picture size/phase/blanking adjustments-> first adjust size allmoust max at marquees menu, open side blankings->set phase to mid point-> pull up testpattern from VP-50 (Frame geometry) ->go to VPīs output menu-> format->1080p60> adjust hor.front-/backporch until you can see those picture area lines. When you have adjusted that format comes that "user" format.
Then fine tune with phase(marquee) and horzontal shift(VP50) and dont forget to adjust blankings! and also check that picture still fits on tubeīs face, you dont want to run picture area over tubes edge!
Save that "user resolution" to disp.profile (read also how that display profile works....)
And save that also to marquees recall memory.
That prosedure should work.
I use different disp.profiles for different framerates, so ie. 1080p@60hz has own profile then 1080p@48hz is in different profile.
Here are timings from my setup (VP-50+E-home M8500) 1080P @ 59.94Hz
H-shift=235
H-Size=1920
H-front=183
H-Sync=44 ( maybe is better use wider sync..Mine does work quite ok with this..)
H-Back=235
V-Shift=28
V-Size=1080
V-Front=12
V-sync=5
V-back=20

1031 is spot on!
Once you have Blu-Ray playback perfected at 1920*1080@60hz on your marquee, you can start tweaking the set more by feeding it 1920*1080@71.93hz or 1920*817@71.93hz and see if you like that better for film playback.
Short explanation about porches: Porches can be looked upon as 'pixels' but they don't contain any video information. They are required to be in the signal to allow the electronics of the projector to function optimal. Analog display devices just need more porches than digitals to perform than properly. Just add more porches (pixels) in the front- and backporches and you will see more of the picture. Back porches are added on the left side of the image and front porches are added on the right side of the image.
The VP50 probably also has a gamma control, and that may be preferred over the gamma control in the HDMI input board.
