Those actually are REALLY old horn loaded subs. I've seen them in some club from the 80s. Insanely efficient, but way not suited for home theater use.

Actually, that's the patent for the WMW woofer. He put it on the screen for the sake of the picture.
The original purpose was for movie theaters, with these enormous woofs behind transparent screens. There's a PDF somewhere I'll try to find, but Klipsch is still in the pro/cinema line:

As for wattage... When you hit 110dB/w/m you don't need much!

Most of the time, I'm listening to about 100 milliwatts/channel.
