Hello,

first post, please be gentle Smile

I have recently acquired two Runco DTV-1100. One of them stays in the US, the other is in Germany.

Next to the power socket is a small label that says 110V/230V. I can't find any place where to change the projector from 110 to 230V. At the moment, when I turn on the PJ, it blows the fuse in the rocker box, but lights up the red standby light.

Does anyone have information, whether or not I need to change a jumper or something, or if it is automatically detected.

Any and help is greatly appreciated.

Best regards

Oliver

If the fuse still blows, chances are the SMPS is bad. I can repair that.

Yes, that was the place I could not find.

Now I just need to find the corresponding fuses someplace.

Thank you.

OK, now the fuse in the rocker box no longer blows.

Unfortunately, I've probably destroyed something within the projector, as I no longer have a Standby lamp Sad

What is the procedure to check out what board I have destroyed?

Thanks

Oliver

Interesting, the picture on page 6-2 of the 1209s manual says two 5A fuses, page 6-3 talks about two 6.3A fuses. What is correct?

From BG1209s service manual

5A for 230V
10A for 120V

Same info should be printed to board.

Smaller Barcos use 4A/6,3A.

Ile,

do you have a Runco service manual, or the Barco 1209s service manual?

I have the 1209s Install manual here. And the calls for 5A on one page, and 6.3A one page later (pg 6-3).

I will now keep the unit powered down for the night, and see what happens tomorrow morning.

Thanks for your hints.

Turned on the projector this morning. No luck.

Checked two more fuses in the cards, both checked out ok.

What to do?

Check out the new fuses. Oh, one of the two new fuses on the AC board is shot. Hmm, ok, get new ones.

Check new fuse, new fuse is ok. Plug the new fuse into the ac board. Plug in the power cord.

Press the power on button.

Stdby light comes on red

Press the Stndby Button on remote.

BINGO - I get a picture. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Now off to check the size of the picture. Unfortunately no label on the lenses Sad, but at least I can check out the picture width. And see if I can get rid of the burn-in by moving the raster away from it. And then off to get some new C-elements for red and green.

Thank you very much for all your help guys! I will keep you posted.

The next problem came sooner than expected.

Green tube lights up, blue tube lights up, red tube ... does not light up Sad

hmm, turn off the projector, unplug the power cord, turn on the projector to empty out most of the power. Open top of the case, and hope that something is loose from the journey (it is a long way from the east coast of the US to the west coast of Germland). Press a bit on the neck board - ooh - something happened.

Put everything together, plug in the power cord, and ...
the green tube lights up
the blue tube lights up
the red tube ... LIGHTS UP Very Happy

More playing.

Gees you need to be careful.

You are blindly playing with fire.

You will spot burn a tube fiddling like that...

You are absolutely right.

The whole deal was an accident, as I never would have thought to acquire a Runco DTV-1100 for 999USD. Adding up shipping and customs the price ended up at around 1800EUR, still fairly low.

With my NEC PG6 I was too afraid to open the chassis, with the Runco I was so disappointed by things not working out, by a burn-in that the seller did not talk about, about coloured C-elements which have bumps like someone tried a soldering iron on it, with broken hinges from the transport, that I really let go of all precaution.

There is a mask on each of the tubes, but mainly visible on the green one, as can be seen on my page about my journey.

I will invest what needs to be invested into this set. And I will succeed.

Sunshine into lenses burns c-elements just like that.
Good luck to find new ones, 3M don't sell those anymore. You should try to find good green tube with c-element. Red c-element you can take from some burned/shorted cheap tube. Check also Sony 1292 red tubes.

I have similar but beige hinges from BG1200. You get those free if you pay shipping.

Ile,

I'd appreciate that a lot. As the pictures show it, I really need only the bottom hinges, but appreciate a full set none the less Cool

Send me a PM with your details so I can send you money, once you've found the hinges.
