I'm new to this forum so maybe this has already been covered. If so, I apologize. Anyway, is there any directionality to an HDMI switcher such as the OPPO HM-31? In other words, can the switch be used to connect multiple sources to one display device or alternately to connect only one source to muitiple display devices (i.e. reversed direction)? The product descriptions don't give enough information to answer this question.

Thanks for your feedback.

Okay, I found the product manual and got the answer to my question--A big fat no (they appear to be active rather than passive switches).

So, does anyone have experience using Xantech HDMI distribution amplifiers (splitters)? I need to hook up my HDMI sources to two HDMI display devices. I am now looking at using a pair of Xantech HDMI1X2 splitters. The HDMI1X2 appears to be HDMI and HDCP compliant--according to the Xantech website, but they don't give any specifics. Will this splitter pass HDMI 1.3 signals?

If you have a better recommendation, I'd like to hear that as well.

Thanks.

I reviewed the Xantech product manual and determined that their DAs always negotiate with the primary output. This won't work for me since I will only have one display on at at time.

After scouring the web I found a 1x2 DA made by Comprehensive/Kramer (HDMI20). Per the product manual this unit negotiates with both displays to find the highest compatible resolution. I am trying to confirm that if one display is turned off that it will solely negotiate with the remaining display. Does anybody have experience with this brand of DA?

I appear to be having a conversation with myself. Anyone else care to join in?

Thanks.

It seems that a DA is not the way to go for my system. I've migrated to looking at matrix switchers now. Does anyone have experience with the Atlona HDMI-22M 2x2 Matrix Switcher or the 2x2 Matrix Switcher from HDTVSupply.com? At around $499 or slightly less this would be cheaper than a pair of DAs.

Thanks.
