I got a chance to install me new (to me) XG75 this afternoon. This is my first projector. It has the BNC RGBHV input as well as a Moome component/DVI input card. So far I can only get 480p to work on the Moome card and up to 720p on the RGBHV card. I have a HD Tivo on the Moome card on component inputs, and a PS3 on the DVI input. I also have an old linux box on the RGBHV input. When I try the higher resolutions, it just shows a scrambled picture, like it can't auto-sync the signal. I am wondering what I might need to do to get the higher resolutions to work. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

I got 1080i component out from the Tivo working on the component input of the Moome comp/DVI card. Not sure what did it. I added a component 1x3 amp and I removed the hdmi->DVI cable that was connected to the PS3. Can you have both component cables and the DVI cable connected to the Moome card at the same time?

No luck on the DVI input on the Moome card. I confirmed the PS3 HDMI output (1080i) worked fine on my CRT RPTV, which has a DVI-D input. Once I move this cable to the NEC, no luck. I get a "unregistered signal" and I get a blank screen, but when the NEC menu is up, it looks like it's 480p at 30Hz. Could it be the Moome card does not pass the HDCP?

As for the stock RGBHV input card, I have that connected to my computer running Linux. 1280x720p works fine. 1080i/60 does not. I used some modelines someone (on this board and AVS) provided in an AVS posting.

I think I know why 1080i is not working on the PC to the RGBHV: The graphics card (nVidia Gforce MX400) may not support interlaced modes. I did get 1080/60p working, although it looks quite soft.

I also tried the DVI input again, but on a HD-DVD player. Still no luck. I am wondering if the DVI input could ever work.

For the DVI input.. you need to go into the PS3 setup menu to configure it to output on the HDMI output and at which scan rate (480, 720, 1080). I'm pretty sure you already did that to get it to work with the RPTV but just wanted to mention it.

I think the moome card will use the component input as long as you have a signal going into it and that would prevent you from seeing the DVI input. You might be able to override that by sliding the switch on the card faceplate to the DVI position to make it the default. To be safe I would unplug the component until you get a handle on the DVI input.

The 'unregistered signal' is a normal message for a signal that is new to the projector so in this situation that is expected. Once you get an image, you will want to hit the ADJUST button on the remote and create a new SIGNAL ENTRY. The blank image may be due to HDCP. HDCP is sensitive to the order in which you power up your devices in the signal chain. Assuming you have just the projector and the PS3; start with both turned off, connect the HDMI cable, next power on the projector first, then the PS3 or HD-DVD, then select the DVI input on the projector.

Thanks for the help jarseneau. FWIW, I did make sure the PS3 was on 1080i. I also tried disconnecting the component input as well. I then tried the HD-DVD player, which has a nice display on the front of the box showing what resolution is being used and whether of not hdmi is in use. When using that player, I could get the "1080i" icon lit on the HD-DVD player, as well as the hdmi icon, so I think the input card is at least working with the HD-DVD player. However, the NEC would still not show anything (it defaulted to some very low bandwitdth signal, perhaps 480p @ 30Hz refresh). I then moved the HD-DVD player back to the RPTV and configured it for 480i on the hdmi output. I then moved it back to the NEC. It would sync for maybe half a second and show the HD-DVD player's output, then it would scramble, then show nothing. It will repeat this over and over. I then moved back to the RPTV, configured output to 480p, then tried again on the NEC, and same thing happened. Perhaps it's time to ditch the Moome card and order an HDfury?

The moome cards had an EDID chip update for the earlier ones sold so you may need that to fix the problem. You could check with Kal or moome to learn more. It does sound like there is something unusual going on with the DVI.
