That's right, ladies and gentlemen, I'm finally stepping beyond 1997... my wife & dad got me a BD drive for Christmas! That and a copy of wall-e... 
So, now I *really* have to start tweaking on the astig, and figure out how to get this stuff set up on my HTPC. I'd like to get ripping going on (will check that other thread for info) but the big thing first is to find a way to do gamma with bd playback, since that's pretty essential.
But, yeah... woot! 
The funny thing is that I just last week got a new laptop for work, and it's got a BD drive... so, since I've been cursed with a really long business trip starting on Sunday, I might bring wall-e with me and start figuring out BD playback and tweaking during my downtime. Heh.
What's really cool is that my wife and her sister also got me some other cool stuff, like a bunch of boxes of 'chocolate chip cookie dough bites' that I'd always get when I'd go to an actual theater, and a ton of popcorn. Pretty awesome.

Sweet! I got a Samsung standalone, I have yet to connect it. Maybe today..
Strange thing is, it's $179 CDN. I checked online, and it's also $179 USD. That makes it 20% cheaper in Canada at Costco. Go figure.

The Costco in-store price on the Samsung was bouncing between 199.99 and $229.99 near me.

when the price of the discs is reasonable let me know. I mean at my local BB not Amazon. Most of the cheap discs available I have already in HD DVD which was always cheaper. I want Wall.e etc, but I am not paying $32+ Tax for it at BB

True, but 99% of my watching will be rental via netflix, so it's not such a big deal. I can count on two hands the movies I'd really like to own, and at least three (the original *original* star wars, not the revisionist edition) aren't available.
Plus, brag screenshots in standard def just don't cut it!
