Some day I'd like to try a LUG (same pin-out as AmPro) or one of those type tubes. My idea for mixing tubes is to produce adapter plugs that go between the existing tube and neckboard. I think it can be done adding less then a inch to the overall length. I saved some old tubes to smash and steal the plugs off the end for half the adapter and somewhere around here I have some old neck sockets for the other half.

Chip I was going to do the same thing, make a small pcb(2 piece) as an adapter for the marquee neck board but after looking at it all t was actually easier to just modify the original VNB. I bought pins and connectors for the pins i wont need. i can send you a set to try for one tube. He still has used tubes left and the two i got with the 16 new are just as good, no wear that I can see. I need to go down there and move all those boxes and organize them into sets, and look for the used and new and separate those also.

I don't know how the neck is keyed on the Sony tubes you have in relation to the original P19's that are in a Quee but one of the 9 inch quee couplings that I have came with a tube (red) installed. When I tried to slip on a AmPro neck board, it was upside down. So not only would I have to redo the pin-out but adjust the key position or remount the tube in the coupling 180 degrees.

the key is mounted as for any marquee tube, so you'd have to flip the tube in the housing which would be no big deal since your going to have to mount them from scratch anyhow.

And lets call them Thomas tubes as that will cause less confusion.

Hello

The early 9000s used Thomson tubes and 40kv on the anode; what is a "Thomas" tube?

Do you realize there is a company on ebay pushing your mods for the Sony tubes as an option?

yeah Niktec i bet. I mentioned to the one guy i buy parts from that it can be done, but i dont think he realizes that the 09MEX03 tube has a different bell housing and I am not sure if the marquee's deflection coil will be able to fit over it or just work the way it is, someone would have to try it to find out. if someoen sends me a 09mex03 tube i can test it since i have a modded VNB already.

Wow that's a great Xmas tree picture Thumbs Up
I still wonder if they can be mounted in a 1292 incl. the LC hardware, that would boost the light output here a lot Mr. Green
However, I've built in the 'new' blue Sony tube and all is fine without any streaking because I don't need a high gain anymore Smile
Finally the blue colour is ok and the whites too, now I can play all my BD's on the PS3 the way they should Wink

Happy days Thumbs Up

André

Wow I've never dealt with this Niktec guy but he seems to stretch the truth a little bit?? "These tubes can be used with the Electrohome 9500lc with some minor modification." I wouldn't call the modification "minor", and secondly we don't even know if the true sony tubes with the different shaped bell can be used with Marquee magnetics. Then he rates the tubes as "USED Excellent condition" but says that the red tube is spot burned... Rolling Eyes
