Someday I actually do hope to have a PC that can do the blue ray stuff. For now the pc that is in use is only to run Calman and RealFlight G4 in the cinema.
I went with a Sony BD-P550. I got it new, cheap and after ripping the manager at fry's a new one about some phone answering wench that was pretty rude and then hung up on me.

The only thing I don't like about the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player is when my son leaves a PS3 game in it, it automatically starts the game when I power it up. So instead of being able to insert the BD that I'm holding in my impatient hands, I have to scramble for the volume because I've got Tony Hawk loading while skater music is blaring at reference levels. |
I would think this is something that you can configure in the system setups. I'll have to go look, but I know I made it so on the 360--as I hate things that auto-start/sign-in.

It is.
Settings -> System Settings -> Disc Auto-Start
I leave it on because it functions pretty much like a set-top box, then. No need to ever even touch the XMB, really. Of course, I always take the discs out. It works because I don't have a teenager in the house, unlike Clarence.
