Standalone or do you also want to capture the HD files to a PC?
I bought the DVICO:

to see if it would give me 5.1 from our local PBS OTA station (for SoundStage, Austin City Limits, etc)... it comes across as only stereo on our cable box.
Anyways, it works great with QAM. Plus when you do a channel scan, it catches the pay-per-view channels from everyone in town on the same cable trunk
But alas, the QAM feed for that PBS channel was still stereo (all of the other network QAM feeds are 5.1), so I listed it for sale...

Even if you don't have cable feed for QAM, it's amazing the free OTA HD you can get with old-school rabbit ears.

I've got the Samsung 260 here. It has a green push on all outputs. I have to exchange it next week. Hope th new one doens't have the green push. Also the S-video and composite outputs stay active but there's no viewing the menu's or changine aspect ratios on the 480i outputs.
My other tuner is a PHD-205, NTSC/ATSC/QAM. Has VGA output too as well as DVI, component, Svideo and composite.
You can only select one output at a time with that one though.

I bought the Samsung SIR-T451 because various listings said it was QAM capable, but it was a disappointment for me. When hooked to an OTA antenna, the ATSC tuner for HD works pretty well, but when switched over to cable all I get is one channel and I know there are close to 80 channels I should get.
I think this has to do with knowing if the QAM tuner is a 64QAM and/or 256QAM as used in US cable systems. I suspect the Samsung is only 64QAM and not 64/256QAM like I think the newer tuners work.
I bought an LG LST-3501A tuner plus DVD player (with RGB output) and it can do either the OTA ATSC HD stuff or the cable QAM. It get the 80 channels with this unit, but it won't tune non-digital cable stations. Also, besides being sort of slow and clunky when changing channels, it also captures scrambled QAM channels and you have to manually remove them from your channel list.
I've found some QAM articles on Wikipedia, but nothing dumbed down for me so far:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64QAM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/256QAM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QAM_tuner
I find ebay listings to largely not specify which QAM capability a TV or tuner has. I also find it hard to try all the different permutations in a search like these for those listings that do provide that detail:
256QAM 256-QAM QAM256 QAM-256 64/256QAM etc.....
I have a couple of Samsung SIR-TS360 units I use for their dual tuner arrangement with one input an air antenna for HD and cable on the other input. All its missing is that cable input won't also tune digital QAM channels.....
