A few weeks ago I complained about the color on the latest Indiana Jones flick. Now I just bought Hancock and it looks to me as if the color is all wrong on it also. So tonight I popped in my DVE BD disk to check my grayscale it it looks fine. Also the provided test material on the disk looks stunning.

Does anyone else think Hancock looks like $hit???

Invert any of your models... that crack's not wack.

Saw the effect with my own eyes... Trailers were beautiful, feature had an odd color pallet that (I swear I'm not making this up) made Will Smith and other black actors have red push, and all the white actors have a green push. I noticed this right from the first scene with the little kid waking up Hancock on the park bench.

What colourspace is your system set to? BT.609 (SD) or BT.709 (HD).

They look very different.

But it will not show in a greyscale.

I have no idea. Is that something that is selectable in a PS3's menu. I don't recall seeing it.

I watched Hancock on BD with BT.709 color space and it did not look as crazy as you are descibing. The green push would be a result of BT.609 used for playing HD.

What is the standard for mastering BD, anyway? I'd assume 609.

Why? All HD resolutions are supposed to be Rec 709. 709 is a wider gamut, why would anyone want to not do it on BD?!?!?

If you want to see the color space differences, but in a universal DVD and a universal HD DVD/BD. The Universal logo is so much more blue and gold and vibrant on the HD thanks to color gamut.

My PJ currently is just in Rec 709 and the Lumagen upscales DVDs (fed to it at 480i) and changes the color space--this to me is the most sensible approach if you are going to still play the occasional legacy

Mis-read your previous post... Read it too fast and mis-interpreted 609 as the HD standard.

Yes it is and I was cutting and pasting and didn't notice. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

We usually call it "Rec" here in the state which I used instead of BT which I used when not copy pasting.
