I did the google and found all sorts of conflicting information. What is the difference?

One's spelled with "C," the other's spelled with "P."

Glad I could help. Mr. Green

I believe that YPrPb refers to component video transmitted in the analog domain and YCrCb refers to component video transmitted in the digital domain...I could be totally wrong though.

Edit...after a quick Google I might be FOS, it's just what came to memory. Post back if you find out Smile

Re-edit...maybe I'm not FOS: http://archive.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?postid=361391#post361391

When I did the google, I found that both Gary and Ben are right.

When I connected my old Sony DVD player (YPbPr) to my scaler (YCbCr) teh colors are all wrong. Same when I connected my set-top-box. I'm just curious if teh scaler is just toast or if there is a difference in the juice flowing through the wires.

Cool, double vision.

How did I do that?

Ben is correct. The "P" is when analog the "C" is when digital. However, many early devices used a "C" for analog (several scalers, the Toshiba DVD players, etc). If it is an analog connection, then whichever it is labeled it is YPbPr.

Now, many scalers also supported a YUV mode which is analog and would use the same connectors, but would mess up your colors. See if you scaler has a way to configure that input as YUV or YPbPr. Chances are it is in YUV mode right now.
