|
|
Gday people, i have read the manual, and ive read the how to in the tech section, but what i really want to know is what i should set what settings to before i start?
Ive deleted all the entries, and then apparently i have to zero every setting, but then some settings i dont zero, and some i set to 100 (blanking, i know that one)
What gets set to what? I just cant figure out what i should set to the zero point, and what i should not, cause there is so many things to set.
The tubes in this rig i would call at least a high 8, if not a 9, cause i personally cant see any wear on any of them at all, i just had them out for bleeding the glycol yesterday, and they are pretty bloody good. The hour meter says 3,994 hrs, but be damned if i can see that many hours use on these tubes.
Thanks in advance people, i know someone will know what each setting should be at before i start to get it all mechanically perfect

Just create a new input for your signal, pick "temporary" as the source.
Then, at highlight a top level adjustment menu such as "alignment", "convergence" and "focus", and hit CTRL+NORMAL on the remote.
Then select "cancel", then "enter".
This will set all settings below that menu level to midpoint. Blanking is the only one that is different.
Do all three menus and your PG is reset (on that input).
Takes about 10 seconds to reset a NEC.
Cheers
Mark

Thanks Mark, id never seen this said anywhere before. That is exactly what i was after
One thing i didnt find when i wiped the old and started up a new input was anything saying temporary.

PG was missing one option compared to later models, it might have been "temporary".
I thought it was the one to use a preexisting memory, but maybe it was "temporary".
PG is missing a lot of things....if you find a Plus chassis for your tubes, jump at it.

I was told this was a plus, but as soon as it turned up here its plain to see it aint. Its a plain vanilla.
There is an Xtra on Ebay (or was, i dont follow it) that had some sort of water ingress problem while it was sitting in storage. May have been ok, but probably had abit of a corrosion issue on more than just the chassis. Too far different to the regular PG though from what i was told.
Im pretty happy with what ive got here now, ive got 4 projectors, so i dont know what id do with any more!!
I havent seen any temporary anywhere in any option, but i deleted every memory in there.

Did you delete the factory memories? They can be handy. Doug always said to leave the video memories, in case the colours get screwed, to give you a reference.

Only the memories for the units that were connected by the previous owner, so just what came up when i hit input select. Id say they were all made by the previous owner, cause they all had custom names and custom settings on each.
Ill hopefully get onto setting this up tomorrow arvo after work, i managed to get my VPH-1001QM working tonight, with a blue tube id rate a 3 or 4 and it still shoots a bloody good picture, so im hangin out to see what this NEC will put out with its perfect looking tubes.
Thanks again for your help Mark, i appreciate it mate

Not unless it was a user setup RGB/VIDEO setting, cause that is all i removed. I didnt touch Kelvin at all yet.

All that will be left is the default Kelvin/White Balance settings.
But yes, the Kelvin Settings are stored in the user memories.
