This site is addiction. I just keep reading and learning more...

So for 9" tubes how do you rank them from best to worst. Or maybe the reason to use one instead of the other.

P19LUG
PT22-22
PT22-30
P19LCP07
P19LCP09
P19LPB03

Anyone have a spec sheet or some info to this?

This is for a Marquee Correct? it depends I guess. Most are all up and crazy on the LUG's were Terry said he found they really aren't much better than
LCP09's in a stock Marquee.

I think that it isn't necessary for us to go with the higher rez tubes because the resolutions we are typically running at aren't that high when compared to the high rez simulators.
With the KD22-22 yokes you get a sharper spot out of the stock tubes so the picture improves. Do the other mods to your Marquee and they continue to improve. You also get more light out of the 07 or 09 tubes than LUG's and less chance of scan lines (as Chris reported above at 1080P).
I just like them in out HT applications. I think the picture was brighter and punchier w/ stock tubes.

We were discussing the Hi rez tubes that Thomas electronics made for a simulator no longer being used.

Mind you I have built many Marquees with KD22-22 focus coils and LUG's as well as 07's and 09's and just didn't see that much of an improvement with the higher rez tubes at 1080P. In fact I really like the picture being produced with the 07/09's a lot which surprised even me.
* LUG's and LPB03's are the same tube except the LPB03's don't have grid 3 on pin 7. Not sure I have ever seen an improvement from hooking up grid 3 and we have looked.
* 07's and 09's are absolutely identical tubes except the pin G2 is on.

I see no difference with grid 3 (Heater-Kathode (HK) grid) on P16 tubes either. P16LJE08's don't have it, and 06/07's do. They focus up the same in my XG.

The HK grid is supposed to reduce cathode capacitance, and therefore increase the bandwidth of the actual electron gun.

It is supposed to be tied to ground through a large resistor - NEC uses a 3M3 ohm resistor. It is not supposed to be tied to G1, like some have done.

I was just talking in general.

So really all this LUG excitement. Is sort of like twisting your speaker wire counter clockwise to cancel out the phase error:-)

What about these

PT22-22
PT22-30
