|

I put the pj on and the red and blue lit up with test, the green did not, I pt that down to the fungus or maybe the subs were low etc. Anyway I took the tube out and found a couple of worrying things.
1: One of The pins on the tube was bent and there were 9 not 10 pins on the tube I will post a pic asap, there looked to be 10 but there is only a black stub where that was. There are 8 in a semi circle and 1 missing where there should be a couple.
2: There is also some black sealant on the tube I have never had the pleasure of seeing so I am wondering what happened.

Ok, looked at the pin or where the pin should be I thought, its like a piece of black rubber not metal, it flexes like rubber as well if this pin were burned surely it would bend not flex, it does not break just flexes.

There was no label on the tube and no output from the green tube, i thought the tube was dead and just left in with no pin as the pin had broken of. This would laso give the fungus time to accumulate which it had in the lc chamber. The remote was set to executive so i put a 909 code in, then put the subs up then tried switching the green on off, still nothing, i then switched the black cable on the rgb board the one for the green around and voila the tube came on. The problem was that this tube is fundamentally different from the rest as it seems to be missing a pin for g1 or g2, however, macgyver talked me through it and he takes full credit because I thought the tube was dead, Curt also told me that the g2 is probably sent through another pin, very lucky on my part, very strange though for me as i guess I have not seen this pin layout.

You would think I should know this but as AmPro's are so trouble free I forget. But I don't think there is any modification to be made to a AmPro to accept a LUG as AmPro and Barco share the same tube/pinout.
Hurry up and paint that friggin thing will ya.

The shocking pink has been ordered as per you command lol
I have just popped out the tube again and removed the glycol as you suggested then I will get some allen keys that fit and remove c element, I think I need a 3.5 mm allen and a 4.5 for the screws holding the tubes odd sizes for the U.K.
paint is coming as well, heat resistant stuff, that should take care of the fungus I hope, then I will refill it and put it all back together.
There are two of these tubes with the 2 blue guns in them the red is white/yellow guns, the green and the blue I think, it would be amazing if they were lugs, do lugs have blue/blue guns?

Look At the pics in the Link I sent you. Look into the tube neck and follow any connections to the G2 grid to the pin on the end of the tube. Then look at that pin Diagram I sent you as well. Then determine which pin is connected to the G2 gun inside the tube and reference it to the Diagram. The we will Know for sure what kind of tube it is.
G2 for standard LCP09 is pin 2 for the P19LCP07 and the P19LUG its pin 6. Also do a resistance reading between pins 9 and 10 to make sure its not a Sonypin out.
But since you say there is no pin on pin 2 and it has the silicone that holds the socket coming out that looks like a black pin then its not a standard LCP09 with the G2 on Pin2.
I have the sony pin out tubes and the sockets are put on so the key in a certain location for different CRT socketed video boards.
Can you take a nice close up of the internal on the neck and try to show any connection from the G2 disc in the tube to a pin, then let us know what pin it is.

I wouldn't bother with painting the LC chamber. A good cleaning and new fluid will last the rest of the life of the projector. I doubt you'll find any defects on the existing coating. Also, I think you'll find that the allen screws are a SAE size, not metric.

Chip, What if the coating is gone and bare aluminum is exposed? Thats what was on the LC housings I got from Finland were like. So I painted the one I am Testing the Thomas Tubes with.
OT did you ever look into being able to alter the Ampro neck card to work with a sony pin out tube?

This is the problem in this tube I can clearly see exposed metal which is what I think caused this I think I will have to paint it, the 3.5mm allen key is a bit to small, looks like its imperial size, anyone know the exact size of the allen key needed to open the LC chamber ? I used to have one but its gone missing from the last time I changed out glycol on the 4300.

looking at the pictures Nashou66 I think that pin 6 does indeed go to the g2, pin 5 seems to go into the g1, pin 7 seems to not do anything, i am just in the process of cleaning this tube so will get back to this after.

pin 6 does indeed go to the g2, pin 5 seems to go into the g1, pin 7 no contact, pins 11, 12 g1, um, this is going to sound weird the silicon pin the one thats not there pin 2 it also contacts to g2 ?! i looked and looked again its not pin 1, pins 8,9,10 seem to go into the center of the G1 but not contact it, does this make sense?

Looking at that link you gave me
http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=141289#141289
the tube guns are blue like the sony tubes, the pinout is circled as far as i understand it, I wonder if anyone else has tubes like this.
