Nope, all boards MUST be installed and working for the XG to work and lock to a signal.
I can also test all your card cage boards here, I have working XGs here for test purposes.

So does the fact that I DO get a a picture when using the S video input mean the oscillator board is OK?

Nope, it seems that these boards all work harder as you go up in signal resolution, so it could be the system or osc board. I think it can even be the wave board.

Edit: Oops, responded to the forum e-mail, missed a few posts.
No, the Moome card will not help.
I would leave the Moome card well alone until you get it working. They can be a total PITA to get working with a properly functioning projector.
And no, I don't know any techs in Sydney. Sorry. Without the correct spare parts, a tech can't help anyway.

If Mark doesn't have the boards, then send your 3 boards to me. Should be $35 or so to send them airmail.

All I can offer is a diagnosis - by swapping boards till it works.
Perhaps it would be more sensible to send it to Curt for diagnosis and repair/replacement.

It sounds like air mailing the boards is the way forward.
How tricky is the extraction procedure for the "3 boards"?
I tried to find some pictures so I know what to look for.
Are there any on the website I missed?
Is it totally obvious to someone who has never seen the inside of one these before?

Hi Guys,
I am finally back onto the job of fixing by crt.
This is probably a real dum question BUT...
Is it OK to remove the 3 boards while the unit is still mounted to the ceiling??
I would prefer not to pull it down if it is not needed?
Thanks
Paul

It's dead easy Paul.
Just take the covers off, and you will see how to do it.
Covers, then big metal card cage lid at the back.
The little white levers at the end of each PCB are for removal.
It will take 5 minutes.

Hi Mark,
I have the lid off, ready to extract, just collecting a few anti-static bags and checking with Curt exactly how many and wich boards to send.
Many thanks for your help
Paul.
P.S how did the your projector work with 110kHz oscillator card? Would you recommend I try this upgrade while fixing my existing problem.

Err..it worked up to 110khz.
Which is completely pointless. 75khz is plenty. I just did it out of curiosity as I had the board on hand.
