I've heard conflicting information about whether the hour meter runs while in standby mode. This is from a document I read recently:
"The requirements of the business were to have the units instantly available for viewing. The power-up mode was not an option. Therefore, the programming for the install was to have the unit hot from 6am to midnight Monday-Friday. Hour meters register 14,300. Most were obviously in standby. Again, they were used for less than two years."

Are they saying the picture was muted or it was in standby mode? (green lite off, red lite on)

Mine fires right up from standby with no hesitation... What am I missing here? My hour meter is running all the time?

Barcos do not clock hours in standby, but they do in video mute. Simple rule for barcos: if the fans are running, the hour meter is running, if the fans are not, the hour meter is not.

So, either it was in video mute and he does not understand the terminology or he is trying to "hoodwink" you.

As an FYI no CRT fires up immediately from standby--not your Barco or any of them. They all take about 3-5 seconds to display a watchable picture. From video mute, the picture is up pretty much immediately.

Dave, yes you are correct, mine takes about 5 seconds to actually display. That's quick enough for me. I didn't think my hour meter was running all the time. Thanks!

How hard would it be to stack/blend three of these? Boggles my mind just to think about it.

I don't think you could do a side by side stack, it would have to be one on top of the other. If two took Ken Whitcomb 24 manhours to do properly, I'd say 36 for three.

you could watch the damn things in sunlight though.Very Happy

The auction first stated that Both projectors were hung for less than a year and had 14000 plus hours on each. When I emailed the seller and told him/her that there are only roughly 8500 hours in a year , The seller responded. OH, They must have been installed for two years.

The seller also said the tubes in both projectors have no wear... I asked How can he be sure?, Did he take the lenses off and he replied, that he had not but that he could see the tubes are like new.... I told him he was looking at the lenses not the tubes, he said.. "oh Thanks"

So we know without a doubt that his claim about the projectors being up for only one year is false. We also know that he has never seen the tubes so his statement that the tubes have no wear/burn is based on either a lie or his inability to distinguish between a lens and a tube.

Proceed with caution.

Ha! I'm not proceeding at all. I'm not gonna try a stack, and have no way to get one shipped here anyway. Good Luck to Curt. This one's outta my league. The ONLY reason I have one now is I ran into a smokin deal very close to me and had some cash in hand.
