I think this is obvious but before going any further I thought I would ask.

My 8500 powers off a few seconds after it starts. I finally made it to the back and saw the LVPS light go on. This happens more on the input that has the Crescendo transcoder than the one with the HTPC. If fact I dont think it has happened on the HTPC input.

I also got another strange problem for the first time ... a bunch of thin horizontal lines all over the screen (sorry no pics). I few power on/off and it went away. This wasnt source specific and would even happen on the internal screens. Only happened once but I thought I would mention it

Is my LVPS done? Is there a way to test?

When you turn it on are there any lights on the front of the LVPS, you can see through the front grill or remove it to see better.

Also remove the CLM and pull the DPB off and remove IC U7 and celan it then put it back together and try the noise should go away.

Aslo reseat the LVPS.
