I gave a friend of mine a pretty reasonable Toshiba rear projection TV a while ago, i dont know the model number but it has 7 inch tubes, LC, and 100Hz scan, 50 or 51 inch.
Has anyone ever taken a rear pro TV and gutted it out to make it into a ceiling mounted setup for a bigger screen or wall mounted one to hit a mirror before going to a wall?
Can it be done?

it will basically only work for CRT front projectors that have been made into rear projectors.
Like Barco Retro models, NEC RP5200, NEC XG85RP, XG135RP, XG85RPW, and some Sony and Electrohome/VDC models.
In most cases these models have everything in them that you need to turn them into a front projector, with the exception of suitable lenses.
Consumer RPTV lack the ability to toe-in lenses, lack suitable lenses, have very limited geometry controls, and usually aren't even bright enough for serious front projection use.

Yeah i know about the toe in problem that would come up, but i can quite easily knock up a frame for all that stuff, without the mirror the picture should be the right way around, and its easy enough to mount the tubes upside down if need was there for that.
As you point out though and i agree, it wouldnt be much chop, i dont know what sort of lumens that Toshiba puts out. I know the lenses could focus out a lot further then they were set for, they must be the same lenses for the 43" and 64" models (if that was their sizes, i dont really remember.)
