Hi folks,
I'm currently setting up my home theater system so it will simultaneously output to the projector, an LCD and a Plasma TV. This allows parents to take their misbehaving kids out of the theater room but continue to watch the movie on the LCD or Plasma in different rooms of the house.
I'm using a PS3 as my DVD player and I have HDMI cables to the projector, plasma and LCD. I have an HDMI splitter box (monoprice) and plan on running the PS3 to the splitter box and from the splitter to all the display devices via the HDMI cables.
All of this would work great accept for one small problem. The PS3 will not simultaneously output audio via HDMI and optical. My home theater receiver needs optical (has no HDMI input) and the Plasma and LCD need the audio over HDMI.
I'm open to any and all suggestions. The only thought I have so far is to send audio out the PS3 via HDMI and buy an HDFury2 and hang it off the HDMI splitter and use the HDFury2 only for the optical audio (which I would feed into my home theater receiver).
Does anybody have any other options?
Thanks much,
Lance

You can get HDMI equipped receivers starting at $200.

Theres really no benefit of running the audio over HDMI if you are going straight to your TV. Just use optical. But like WanMan says, if you got $200 get a new receiver, then you can experience the newer sound formats.
