Hi
I have a BG1209s with flawless red and green tubes. The blue however has some small burnin (icons....).
The blue is a P19LPB03BMB, and I read that it should be similar to the famouse P19LUG.
Is the neckboard and magnetics (and everything on the tube) the same? Or if I decide to change to P19LUG, do I need the get a lot of extra stuff replaced aswell?
/Anders

There both high resolution tubes and are interchangeable. Read the note at the bottom of the PDF.

Thanks for your reply.
So the pinout is the same, but I must admit that I do not understand the note. Do I have to make any changes to the neckboard (add a resistor or something)?
Thanks!

You can plug the LUG into your set and it will operate perfectly.
The LUG has an addition grid in it called grid 3 or the KH grid on pin 7 that is used in the G90 and later model Barcos. It will not impact you in any way. That is what the note is saying.

What is the purpose of the KH grid?

Well that's a good question - and back in the summer we took apart a
couple of 9" tubes in order to compare the gun assemblies.
Grid 3 (KH) is the first one after the cathode (which is amazingly small)
and it's connected to ground through some resistance. It seems likely
they are catching stray electrons right at the source. Which seems like
it would improve focus, but Terry has spent so much time working with
sets that have either LUG's or LPB03's and says there's no observable
difference in focus or performance.
Somewhere I read that grid3 reduces capacitance and helps the drive
circuits react faster - but if that's true then you would think the PT22-30
"fast phosphor" green tubes would use the LUG guns, but they don't...
and obviously those are used for high refresh rate 3D systems...
