|
|
|
I recently purchased a Sony VPH-D50 on ebay. I have read all the manuals on this website re: set-up but can't get the red, blue, and green lines to converge. Using the R cent and B cent buttons, I can only make the lines move just so far before the screen says MAX for that line and it won't move any further. Any suggestions on how to fix this convergence issue? Thanks!

I assume that you have read everything found here: http://www.curtpalme.com/SonyD50.shtm
One you do then you should be able to converge and focus the center of the image with out any electronic adjustments; meaning that R cent and B cent will both ber at zero.
Read The 'Mooneyass' Sony 1270Q Setup and Operation Manual which can be found here: http://www.curtpalme.com/Sony125x_Downloads.shtm
It's a great resource for the beginner.

Yes, I've read both manuals re: the D50 at the link you suggested. I did all that before posting. I'm only posting b/c I've read everything I can find on this site re: my issue. None of them address what to do when using the appropriate buttons to converge the colored lines doesn't work. As I said, I can only get the red and blue lines to approach the green line just so far before I max out on the Vf line before either one actually gets to the green line; hence, no convergence. I just need someone to tell me or send me somewhere that tells me what to do when this happens. Thanks!

Have a look at this document which was specifically written for aligning the Sony VPH-D50Q
Suggestion: follow it from step one, even if it means re-doing everything in your current setup and installation.

Thanks for the posts. I'm afraid I don't know what a "mechanical toe-in" is, nor do I know what "centering the green to the tube face" involves. If you can point me to where I can learn about this, I'd be most grateful. Thanks!

OK,
mechanical toe-in will need you to pull off the front of the case, and loosen some
bolts, and then you can align the red and blue to the green - you will want to
reset your convergence back to midpoint before starting this project.
This should be in the setup guide and/or manual somewhere, it's really important.
If you get stuck, let us know - I have a couple D50's here, I will take a pic if you need it...
They are pretty neat little PJ's. I think you will have lots of fun and end up with a nice picture.

everything but the mechanical toe-in should be covered in the document I attached for you here.
Lens toe-in (or CRT conversion angle as Sony refers to it) is covered on page 20 (EN) of the D50Q installation manual (I have attached those 2 pages)

First off, thanks so much for attempting guide me through this. Re: your posts, part of the issue is this D50 didn't come w/ a remote (bought it used on ebay). Most everythng I read involves first setting the remote control to the service adjustment mode before proceeding on. I've scrolled through the menu and don't see a setting for this. Do I need to buy a remote before I proceed? Also, I really appreciate the effort in attaching those file to the posts but there is nothing for me to click on. How do I access them? Finally, I am in Austin, TX. If, by chance, anyone reading this is in this area, too, could we hook up in person to guide me throught this? Or would someone be willing to share their ph # so we could chat about this (on my dime of course)? Thanks!

Hi,
I had wondered if you had the remote - that will be a problem, since the D50 doesn't have
a full set of controls on the chassis. You can use one from a 12xx series (1251, 71, 72, 92)
or from a G70/G90 - and they pop up on ebay from time to time.
But just setting the toe might at least get you closer to a picture...

Again, my apologies for being so stupid on this. There is nothing within the posts of the attachments for me to click on to download the files. However, it appears they come from the manual found on the curtpalme website, which I have already accessed. The procedure requires me to get into service mode, which seems to require the remote, which I don't have. Is there a way to do this w/out the remote? If not, do any of you have one I can purchase, or does Curt Palme sell them on his website? My address is eroc57 (at) sbcglobal.net if anyone can email me directly w/ anything uselful. Thanks!
Edit: removed the atpersand from your email address. It'll just get you super spamed. ~AR

You need the full remote, it is the same one used on the G70 and G90, Model # is RM-PJ1000
You may also be able to use a remote from a 12xx sony but it may lack some of the buttons

Been searching ebay and other places on the web for a remote for the D50 but none to be found. Is there no way to converge r,g, & b lines w/out the remote? Thanks!

Trying to adjust the CRT conversion angle. The manual says to put the projector in service mode, which I did. Then it says to reset red, green, and blue centering, but never tells how to do this! It gives a page # to go to but that page just tells how to reset a function in general, which is no help. I tried reseting the R cent and B cent functions, but that didn't get me to the hatch pattern, so I'm guessing that's not how it's done. Can someone please help? Thanks. I'm at my wits end w/ this.

I will email you the copies of the different setup pdf's I have after I drop my girls off at school. You have to manually go into EVERY setting you can find EVERY SINGLE ONE and adjust it to 128. It'll take about 10 minutes of button pushing....

|
|
Hi I recently installed a IFB-FULLHD v2 into the Input B of my Sony D50 and have a few problems.
1. The convergence is way out. I have read in the manual how to mechanically set the convergence but if I switch back to Input A (Component) all is fine. Should I proceed with the resetting?
2. The size is also incorrect. Width is fine but it is throwing light way below the bottom of the screen. Again as soon as I switch back to Input A all is fine.
Any other tips for menu settings will be much appreciated.
Note that I am in Australia so will be using the PAL system. I am hoping to be able to display 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p.
Thanks again for any advice.
