I never knew that adults could act so childish. With that in mind I will now hijack the thread!

On NECs is it okay to run the raster very very close to the tube edge if the image never gets closer than 1/2 an inch to the edge of the tube? With my PC I was able to adjust my porches to center and widen the image to fill the raster but I can't do the same with my 360.

Does any one have any suggestions on a very cheap method to black out the walls in a room? I've been thinking about cheap fabric but don't know where to look for some really cheap.

From someone who has seen both, do you prefer 720p or 1080i96 for the 9PG+?

My projector is mounted vertically with a mirror above it. If I tilt that mirror more than 45 degrees from vertical in order to lower the image, will I be unable to get even focus?

Thanks in advance!
-Greg

Holy smokes! I just got back to the computer. I am soooo jealous of all of you that have internet access at work. It's probably a good thing I don't have it though, I wouldn't have gotten any work done at all today! Razz

I had the 3rd post on this thread and I had no idea it would go this far. I think this is 322 in 27 hours. WOW! This is almost as succesful as the big chat room meet last night! I don't care what Chip says... the chat room is cool! Wink

Well done everyone. Thumbs Up No I'm not getting involved in what's been going on. I only know that I'm happy that there are a bunch of great people here. You guys rock! Twisted Evil

Analog - watch out! The new girl only has to post for about 3 months to catch up to you! Shocked She'll over take my post count in 2 more days and I've been here for almost 2 years!!!

LostManDan - seriously, you are going to need to PM HK mod about the contest. It seems that there is some interest there. I won one last time and they ROCK! - No, I'm not putting mine up. I haz HDMI splitterz and I likes it.

Grog, I tried 720p and 1080i. I prefer 1080i (from my PS3). I thought it was sharper and I sit far enough back (under the projector) so I don't see the scan lines. I was also told 720p is harder on the old beasts.

I run my raster a bit close to the edge.. about 1/4" on the side. BEFORE anyone give me grief about it. I put under 100 hours on it last year. It'll bio-degrade before I use it to death. Don't take my word for it though. You projector is yours. If you want to play safe, don't push the raster edge.

I love you are using mirrors. I asked about that early on, but everybody shot the idea down as problematic. I'd love to hear what you think of my original ideas... https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=4248.html Thumbs Up Do you have pictures of your setup?

Thanks for the answers. This my first time trying a mirror and I'm at the very beginning stages of setting it up. I'm sending it 1280x960 from a HTPC. I just used powerstrip for the first time in order to get the image as wide as the raster. I've been taking pics since day one. I'm in a rental house for college and I'm turning 1/2 of the garage into a dedicated home theater with a college student's budget (aka almost nothing). Once I get a little further along I start a thread about it with before and after pics. For now, here are two pics of the mount with the pj on it. Not the best pics but it's what I already had on my comp. Thanks,
-Greg

It's OK to run the raster that wide, if you ensure that it really stays 1/2 inch off the edges.

I used to run 720p60 before I switched to 1080i96. I have the PJ perfectly dialed in though. So, a lot will depend on your setup skills. Scanrate for 1080i96 is about 10 kHz higher than for 720p60 (this won't affect stability, but will require more meticulous setup).

Btw, do you notice any raster ringing with your maxed out picture? It should be noticable on the left edge of the projected image.

I'm just this woman/girl/gal ... whatever it is the kids are saying these days. I live my life, pay my bills, call my parents to say good night.

I enjoy beer with friends, good music (Okkervile River, Frightened Rabbit, The Arcade Fire, Phosphorescent, Dillinger 4, Jaymay, Ryan Adams, Hot Water Music, Boris the Sprinkler and so on), tattoos, hot tea and coffee, scarves and good art. You know. I live in xxxxxxxx for GOD'S sake, you BETTER know.

I have my own business as a freelance ninja. It's hard work, long hours, bloody ... but it keeps me in shape and on my toes, so? I can't really complain.

I'm looking for a man who can keep up, who's independent, has goals and interests, passions that exist outside himself. I like to come home to a man who has something interesting to say while I wipe guts off my face.

He will need to understand if "now you see me, now you don't." -- coz I'm a ninja. When I'm needed, I'm needed. No time to explain, I'll just be gone, hold that thought.

If you think you're up to it, drop me a line.

Greg awesome I just got an 6pg xtra and was going to set it up in the living room. The wife didn't like the idea of me hanging it from the ceiling. you reminded me bout using the mirror.

I wouldn't feel safe though with it just hanging by strings.

Grog didn't say if he has a first surface mirror or not. I actually found a supplier that sold 12" x 12" off-cuts cheap and I was going to mount them to plywood side by side (1 per tube). It would have cost next to nothing to build.

I also thought of doing that with my Ampro. It would be a cool way to do a stack. 6 independant mirrors, zero the geometry and align the cross hairs with the mirros. All 6 of them. THEN get into the geometric setup and scemenfluggy.

I'd just need another Ampro....wait what am I saying?!?

Yea, this thread really screwed me up. I was laughing so hard, I mean really laughing out loud, that my wife got on line and read the whole thing. Now my wife is reading the forum!!!!! Thumbs Down

The fun Shocked didn't stop there. I had our daughter the link of the pics that Clarence and Jeremy "doctored" up of me a few days ago. So, she hears us laughing and finds out what we are so worked up about. She gets on the forum, starts reading and laughs till she crys as well. But, she didn't stop there; she logs on and gets a user ID!!!!

Whens she figures out she can't post pics unless she pays, she goes to my wife, gets my logon ID, logons on under me and starts posting "doctored" up pics!!!!

Man oh man! This has become a Family Affair now................... Oh well, I ain't really got nothing to hide, so, it's cool. That is as long as she doesn't start posting sh*t about me that I don't want to get out Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Shocked Shocked .

Welcome to the hood.............
