Any of you guys seen this yet?

They are claiming one second disk loading times and instant streaming from Netflix. The "Instant Streaming" takes 30 seconds to load and then it's only in SD. Why can't they upscale the stream to HD?

From a technical standpoint the PS3 can already do it. With it connected to the internet through you router, you can download HD movie clips directly to it's hard drive and play them back in 1080P HD.

I can tell you from experience that the Netflix streaming looks like ass with a 1.5mbps connection - VHS quality, if that - and that's on a laptop screen. I wouldn't want to watch it on 27" TV, let alone a big screen. I think they have two more quality levels for ~<5 and ~<10mbps, but they're still SD.
You can also get Netflix streaming on an Xbox 360 with the Live Gold subscription, and I believe some of it is in HD (but with stereo audio ).
As for the BD300, I just read a review that made it sound like a pretty damn good player, speed-wise. It actually BEAT the PS3 in several disc-loading comparisons. I'll see if I can find the review and post here. It's the first BD player I'd like to try.

The LG player and the Samsung players are going to be updated to allow Netflix HD streaming. Pretty impressive for sure. I have the xbox360 in the bedroom and it is only hooked up to a 720p 17" set (going to be replaced soon!) and it looks nice.
I think the Sammy 2550 is the player for me. Pandora streaming, Netflix HD, relatively quick load times. Might have to sell off the PS3 and get back to all IR!!!!

I dislike IR. The reason why I bought my HTM 600 with base station was to get rid of IR. I wish these idiots would move to Bluetooth, but I guess the licensing must be expensive.

Well yes I am using RF with an base station and IR blaster. But NONE of that is compatible with the PS3 without spending some bucks.

You are a much braver man that me. I'm not brave enough to buy anything from samsung that plays a shiny little disc as they have all sucked bad.

I agree with this. LG has really been on their game with HD players.

I wonder if the price will go up now that they have a big fine to pay for price-fixing on the flat-panel front.
