I am getting advice that seems to conflict with the Guide, or at least are not addressed in the Guide.

My new projector, BenQ W5000, has a default red color of ~40%, with blue at 120%. According to the Guide, I should adjust the gain color controls (red and blue only) so that all 3 colors were as close to 100% as possible while metering a 80%IRE screen. There is no mention of adjusting the controls up or down, merely adjust to 100%.

My question is this, I'm getting advice from others that you should not adjust colors 'up' while adjusting gains. So, in my circumstances noted above, instead of adjusting red 'up', I should be adjusting both blue and green 'down' until all 3 colors are 100%. In conflict, the Guide suggests not to adjust green at all, only red and/or blue. I don't see how I could adjust blue down enough to pull red up from 40% (and I'm not completely convinced that my projector doesn't have a problem as 40% for red at default seems strange).

Thanks for any clarification,
George

I have a benq 8700+ and in the service menu I have 3 options to set the grayscale wright.
Gain
rgb gain
rgb offset

Try to look if you have the same options and you can up the red in the gain menu if you
have come to the end in the rgb gain or rgb offset menu!

Cheers and good luck

P.S.

I'm curious how many ftl can provide your projector in your room and in what kind of wall treatment do you have?
Thx
