|
|
Hi all,
I'm quite new here, stepped into the realm of crt-projection a few months ago! Enjoying myself very much here!
The only slight problem I still have is a very small remnant of the 'barco line of coincidence':
I managed to get rid of these in both blue and green tubes, but the red tube still shows a scanline-overlap about
1/6 screenwidth, exactly at the center of the screen.
I managed it to be hardly noticable by defocusing the red lens to a level just under noticable.
But of cource, it would be nice if one of you can tell me how to get rid of it, then things would be perfect!
Thanks and,
All the best from Holland,

Congrats on your new BG1209!
This is what I would do - having been there before....
1) - Delete all memories, then turn memorybanks off, recycle power, then turn memorybanks on again.
1a)- Set everything in your current memory to midposition, set your astig (service menu) to mid in all zones.
1b)- Be certain that your cpc magnets are set such that there is no grid movement during focus ramp.
2) - Do a basic mechanical alignment of the deflection coils to horizontal centerline.
3) - Use the vertical height and centering pots to match the Red and Blue to Green - very important.
4) - Use coarse convergence to set the key balance before using zone. Avoid using H centerline geometry controls
Let us know how it turns out,
G

Thanks for this very usefull reply G!!
I'm quite a noob with this, but am a fast learner! And I know when and where to keep my distance during operation of the 1209..
Before I get at it, three questions remain:
-What are cpc-magnets and where are they located?
-Where can I find the blue and red alighnment pot's?
-Can you explain coarse convergence?
I also have a BD800 with the same problem, I will take that one first before demolishing the nearly perfect image of the 1209!
Some of my friends will be here for a movie-evening next thursday, so I don't wanna start this before that.
Thanks for the help,
All the best,
HDD.

I've just been through this whole ordeal,I just ended up re doing setup from scratch but made sure this time that all three rasters were close to centre of tubes as possible, this way I found that my adjustmensts were incremental. This not only fixed a whole lot of issues for me,it also got rid of the line through the tubes.Hope this helps.

Hi mr. hdd,
Here is a great place to read about crt set-up, and get manuals, tips with pics = great stuff.
Quite a nice resource thanks to Kal's hard work and Curt's nicely done Barco guide, and more!

OK, guyzz, here is an update on this matter:
With Photoshop, I generated a full-screen color test field for each primary color and a full white one.
Projecting these with the BD800 showed a distinct line of coincidence in the blue and red tubes, and a less drastic, but still quite eminent line in the green tube.
Then I cleared all memory blocks, and projected the test patterns again: No line of coincidence visible at all!
I found some positioning pots, and managed to get the horizontal center part of the red and blue matched to green, using the internal test patterns.
I had to use the side-geometry controls to obtain a decent image. Corrected the remaining with zone-convergence.
That all gave a complete different situation: The lines in the red and green were as good as gone! Only a 1/6 screenwidth line overlap in the blue tube remained.
Yesterday, I enjoyed this much better image of the BD800 for hours!
Also, with this totally different (read better!) image after a (more logical) quick setup makes me confident about getting rid of this problem completely, following the zGman procedure!
I'll keep you posted..
