I found that certain high frequency signals would cause my image to get these black dark streaks across the screen with my 8000 vim, with a sd dvd source it would not happen, it didnt happen at first it happened after some time like yours, one day it worked the next it didnt. there is a circuit on the Vim that could act like an am antena and it could be the cause TSE explained this to me.Maybe over time this circuit gest weak and picks up the signals more easily, the only way to know for sure is to test voltages on the vim at certain locations and to do that you need an extender card. Try the 8110's VIM and see what happens.

I told him to test the vim on the 8000 so if he wanted he could buy a chaep vim from curt for it and then onec he solved the 8000 problem he can concentrate to get the 8110 up and running and use the 8000 as a test machine for when and if anyhting goes wrong int he 8110 later.

eureka!!!!!!!!

i freaking discovered how to make the banding at will!!!

just for kicks tonight i checked the p14 voltage in my 8000 that i have been using for a couple of years.

it was 6.58v!!!!!!

so i lowered it to 6.35v.

then i thought.......what the hell......lets hook-up the hd video chain and see if it made any difference.

no difference and still had banding on 02.

so i switched the hd video chain to 01 which had been setup again for the htpc and no!! banding but the image needed to be shifted right because of the poor hd fury design.

so as i shifted the horizontal phase past 53 it started to get darker and the banding appeared and i thought maybe its just a coincidence but as i went below 53 it got brighter and clear!!!

so............aside from getting the -new- hd fury how do i shift the image enough and not incur banding or dimming ?

i remember when i had just 1 hd video source and was trying to get it all setup that when i shifted the image right it did get a bit dimmer and i had to increase briteness/contrast and i had always been wanting to ask why that happens.

im still going to concentrate on the 8110 as primary pj but its really nice to have gotten this problem at least figured if not resolved and have a working pj again for hd.

for now i can live with the image 1"left of the screen and i might just blank it for now.

Sounds like you need to do a magnetics set up, i am able to set phase to 60 with not streaks(banding).

as you approach 60 does the image get dimmer ?

does the p14 mod apply only to pjs that have the grey mexico trimpot ?

whats the purpose of cutting the trace and putting the 470ohm resistor in series with the 20ohm trimpot ?

could i just cut the trace and install the 470ohm resistor with the blue trimpot that was already in there ?
