Whoa. No idea why they're doing this but Amazon's selling the Sony BDP-S300 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player at 50% for $199 and with free shipping right now.

These will definitely sell out fast!

Tech specs:

- Full HD 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema Video Output,
- DVD Upscaling to 1080p via HDMI
- BRAVIA Theatre Sync (HDMI-CEC)
- BD/DVD/CD playback(4) and AVC-HD with x.v.Color output
- Multi-channel Linear PCM & Dolby Digital Plus Decoding

Yup. Amazon unfortunately doesn't ship electronics outside the US border (due to warranty and sales restrictions). Books, DVDs, Movies, and anything downloadable is ok.

Too bad for me too. There's been many a time I wanted to buy something electronic from them.

I guess they are blowing these out now that the S350 is available. A friend of mine has this S300 and I can tell you from using it myself that it is slooooowwwww. Loading is painful compared to other players like my Panasonic BD30. I would spend another $40 to $50 and get the Panny now that it is showing up in the $250 range. Many more user controls as well and for CRT users there is a gamma adjustment that is very useful.

Keep in mind there isn't an Ethernet connection on this thing and as a result the only way to update the firmware is by downloading it and burning it to a CD/DVD. I played with the Costco version of the 350 and it was slow as h3ll.

I still would rather spend the money on another PS3.

Yup. Me too. If I had to buy a new Blu-ray player today it would also be another PS3. I love my PS3. The things are lightning fast and 100% upgreadable.

$399, free shipping in the US.

Was just reading about the S300 and supposedly the new v4.2 firmware reduces load times considerably. Example: Pirates of the Caribbean: Black Pearl (formerly taking about 2-3 minutes to lead) now at about 45 seconds to load.

Still not as fast as the 2-3 seconds that the PS3 takes however, but still much better.

I listed a pile of reasons why I think the PS3 is still the best Blu-ray player here: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=9912.html

I'll stick with my PS3 until someone comes up with a BD mega changer like the 777ES

I was at the grocery store buying film today. THey had a Sony BDP-S350 for sale for $249 and el cheapo Bluray disk's for $9.99 each.
Of course they also had 37" LCD TV's.

That's a neat grocery store.

Stopped at Costco's yesterday afternoon and they had the Samsung BDP1500 for $279.99, but considering the 1400 lasted me only 4 months I declined.

What was funny about the box is that for every English phrase on the box there was another phrase in Spanish. I'm use to seeing this in Home Cheapo because of all of the Latino contractors and laborers and whatnot.

I noticed that last weekend. You guys are quickly becoming bi-lingual there. English/Spanish.
Here we have English/French.
