Don't worry too much about 4:3 content.
After you watch a film on 16:9 you will think 4:3 is horrible.
Anyway, when you select 16:9 output on the dvd, all output material will be fit to that aspect ratio. Black bars on the side of 4:3, and black bars on top and bottom of 2.35:1 content.
