I'll soon be mounting my 9501LC (non-Ultra,) and want to keep my eyes out for a spare chassis for diag reasons and as a source of swap/upgrade parts.
Obviously, the same generation 8500 is i candidate, but what about 8110+ and other chassis?

I believe the VIM out of an 8000 may also cause problems if used in a newer machine.

Nope i have used them with no problems till i messed up my HDM and it did soemthing to my modded 2006-03p I used it for about a year till i found a newer board.
the reason was my secod marquee was a striped down reefrence 8, the person who sold it to me took out all the good boards and put in many 8000 boards the HDM, Vim and HVPS and the VDM/CVA and CLM. I had to slowly look for the parts.

Something seems strange. Clarence gave me an 8000 VIM (2005?) for me to try fixing a sync problem on my 81110+ (has a 2035 ver 2). The one I got from Clarence wouldn't fit into my Marquee due to a key in the plastic slot. Granted I didn't try to break the key - but I did see some feedback from Curt that the older VIMs won't work in newer units

Yuck it up, laughing boy! You'll be helping me hang the thing, bad wing and all! (I don't trust my cable and winch mechanism with this much weight, or a PJ this valuable... My company has a rolling cable-drive forklift good for 500lbs... I'll be bringing that home soon I think.)
Two Cripples Projector Installation... You a one-armed Pedro Martinez and me threatening to bust a gut!

Yes, the various VIMs have various knockouts depending on the model. I've knocked out the knockouts so that the 8000 VIM fits into an 8100/8500. Sometimes they work, other times they don't.

i personally wouldn't use any 8000 parts in the newer machines. they are ALL a downgrade except for maybe the LVPS. The 8110,8500, and 9500 are all identical electronically.

Athanasios | Man you had the worst luck buying Marquee's. Your first 8000 wouldn't even run, then the so called "reference 8" was a cannibalized mess (I warned you about that one in a PM too). I think your experiences are a good reason why buying from a trusted seller like Curt or Tim can actually save you money sometimes.

So an 8110 is a good candidate... Anyone know if they always had 03P VIMs and 2,4,6 pole magnets? I have a line on one that is something like a six hour round trip away

Bumpitty bump bump... I got the Discussed 8110. 2,4 magnets and an 03P VIM (which does not work in my 9500 for some reason.) Seperate thread for that...

Just replied to my other thread with a *sigh*... it's 2005-03P. O well...

Hello
The 8110+ should have the 34.9kv power supply (good) and possibly an -03 VIM (very good). It will not have zone stig waveform or amplifier board and will not have same focus coils (minor inconvenience).
