I wonder how this argument would look if you replaced gun with knife?

1) Would they ban sharp knives, dull knives would be less dangerous.

2) Would you need a permit to carry a Knife?

3) Knives kill.

4) Knives are designed to kill, they are, are they not?

5) Why do they even need swords, the only purpose they have is killing?

I guess you could find fault in anything. Even a ceiling mounted CRT, by a newbie, is a deadly weapon Smile

I was being facetious. If you try to hunt quail with that gun, you'll end up with a greasy smear and a few mangled feathers. Take a look at that video and see if you think you'd have to shoot somebody point-blank to kill them. I don't think they're using "dove loads."

My bad, Gary. When I first read your post, I thought it said "the shotgun", not "that shotgun". Obviously, the shotgun was originally intended to be a hunting weapon. I agree with you about the shotgun in the link. That thing is choked down big time and they were using some sort of high-power load (with titanium shot according to the video). One badass CQC weapon for sure.

I'm pretty sure that I've seen another video of that weapon where they used a magazine full of slugs. Carnage is about the only word that comes to mind.

comparing the killing power of a semi-automatic weapon to a knife is a compeltely ridiculous argument. It's like saying Cocaine shiould be legal because Asprin is legal and they're both made out of chalky White stuff.

Comparing someones ability to use various weapons to take certain numbers of lives is not the idea.

A weapon is a weapon is a weapon. It does not matter how good of a tool it is for killing, if someone can take a single life with it, that is one too many. I say we ban swords, it falls under the category of a weapon, it's only purpose is for killing. Lets ban the crossbow, bow and arrow... Their only purpose is for killing.

Why is it OK to have a gun that, in the hands of a skilled killer, can take say, three lives before reloading. But anything over that is now too many people killed. It's OK for a person to kill, as long as it does not make the national news.

"Hey Joey, this here gun is totally legal, if you are a good shot, you could probably kill three people before you have to reload. You do not want to get caught with that gun you are looking at there, they"ll throw you in jail if they catch you with that mega blaster."

(Deron's forgiven as he rides an electric bike, but grow up and stop playing with weapons will ya?)

You know I could care less about weapons, smoking, drinking, what type of oil MC Donald's uses to cook their fries... because I use none of those. I'm just fighting for the rights of others, I figure as long as we keep the commie's busy trying to take other peoples rights away, my rights will be safe that much longer.

You guys should visit California, just leave all your rights at home.

What commies?

Only North Korea is commie these days. Even China is an authoritarian capitalist dictatorship now.

The current US administration is the one that tramples rights. And they love their guns.
Gun control isn't a loss of a right - it's gaining the freedom to be safe.

Mark, you're thinking like a non-American. If everyone around you has guns, and you don't then how safe do you feel?

Now let's say hell freezes over, the lion lays down with the lamb and get's it on and the USA institutes gun control, totally. How many guns have been sold? How many people have them in their possession? How do you get them from the people? Ask nicely?

I envision Wakko Texas style confrontations if they ever tried.

Living next door to the US and going there from time to time I can see their position and yours. I just don't think you get it.

Have you ever visited there?

Mark there's a bunch here in California.

Ideally communism makes everyone equally poor, but there are many versions of it. Marxism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, Eurocommunism... The way it has been applied in history that we all hear about is under some sort of dictatorship.

Here is a good example how it has been applied here in San Diego to one of my Friends. The city of San Diego and the CDC (community develop corporation), the Padres, wealthy developers... took his and dozens of other properties so they could build a ballpark and high rise buildings.

It was all being done under the disguise of "for the people", taking the property of a few people and distributing it for the greater good of "the people". Of course along the way the super wealthy made a killing on the ballpark, all the high rise buildings...

Also for your information, if you did not already hear about this.

"The Supreme Court ruled yesterday that local governments may force property owners to sell out and make way for private economic development when officials decide it would benefit the public, even if the property is not blighted and the new project's success is not guaranteed."

That is a perfect description of Communism if I ever heard one!

And Deron, that's not communism, that's corrupt capitalism. I'm not a communist (it doesn't work), but I don't reds-under-the-bed everywhere either. What's with the paranoia?

There's no paranoia. It's fear, and it's real. You're wrong, Mark. Well, OK... Two thirds wrong. It's corrupt capitalism, communism, and socialism. After the communistic government seizes the private property which doesn't belong to them and gives or sells it to corrupt capitalists, then the corrupt capitalists are taxed ridiculously so that the wealth can be socialistically redistributed to pay for the poorly-run schools that most people couldn't afford if they had to pay what it actually cost.

So have you ever visited to see why they do what the do with their guns? Have you ever stoped by a gun shop? Talked to the people that love to shoot for recreation or hunting?

It's easy to sit down there and spout off about them but it's another thing if you have scene it first hand. Lemme tell you. After seeing the ETF ( swat ) teams responses here in Toronto to a man in a car with a gun. They go balistic ( no pun intended)

It was odd to see 3 guys dressed in hunting outfits driving along in the US with one guy in the back seat holding 3 guns. There it's the norm, here it's call for ETF. It's all relative. They grew up with guns, you didn't. Doesn't mean you can dictate to them about what the should and shouldn't do/have when it comes to firearms.

I'm not a gun fan much but it was a fun experiance to talk to the gent's in the gun shop and the hunters. My late Uncle was an avid Moose hunter. One of the most shocking things he said to me when I was a kid was: " I love animals, I love being outside. I love stalking them and shooting them. "

As a city boy I was shocked and appaled. As I got to know my uncle and saw things from his point of view - his way of life - I understood. It's not for me, but he grew up that way. Why should anyone try to take that from him? Who are you to pass judgment when you haven't walked a mile ( or 1.602km's) in thier shoes??
