|
|
So I just finished putting in the last tube of the new one's I bought. I hadn't done the red yet because I just hadn't gotten around to installing it. I finally get it in and clean things up nicely and then I power on. Everything lights up brighter than ever, bigtime potential. I go to set the G2 first of all and after I do so, maybe 30 seconds later the quad starts making an almost squealing noise. I immediately powered off hoping it wouldn't blow up on me. Powered on again to see if it'd be gone, not so lucky. I just shut down and unplugged everything and here I am now. What should I do? Is this thing about to die? Is there something I can check to save it? I'm a bit scared b/c 1 quad already blew on the thing a couple months back so I'm down to 0 spares on a 1208 s/e with the new quad that no one has. So, ummm, help!

Maybe that red tube have short, it's quite common after shipping. Unplug neck board and hv cable and see what happen.

I went back down and messed around a little last night and found that when tweaking the hv cables from the splitter a bit, the noise disappeared completely, so HV leak or short of some sort sounds about right. Though I think it might actually be the blue tube that's causing a problem and considering that if the cable is positioned differently, there's no noise, it could've been a problem before. Should I switch out the cables? Some other trick? Should I continue to use it in the meantime?

Try this:
Turn the pj on, projecting an image. Run your fingers all around the hv cables, twisting and bending them to stretch the insulation, listening for the HV leak. You will find it. Listening very closely will keep you from getting zapped.... personally I like a good jolt every now and again, but be aware you may get bit. Its not unlike an automobile ignition system and I've been bit thousands of times by those. It's actually invigorating. Your mileage may vary.

Can you also use your tongue to check for HV leaks? It always works to check if these 9v batteries are still working...

Never used my tongue for HV leaks, but I did have a G/F that liked electric fences...

Well here's the difference beween a 9V and the high voltage of your projector.
9volts vs. 34 000 volts. So NO don't use your toung

I was wondering if it might be more efficient to just use my tongue. Maybe I should just lick my fingers first real good...

Curt swares by rubbing KY jelly on his penis then poking it around everything HV related. When he gets that bug-eyed look , he knows he's found the leak
At least that's what I heard.
