Bought some new ad ons for my 1272.
How do I adjust my 1272 Sony to receive a 1080P input?

1080p is too much for the 1272. 1080i is the best it can do, and that is a little soft even with it very well set up. Set it up for 1080i, it's a great projector.

Seconded. 1080p would be of no benefit, and would actually be a detriment to both picture and projector.
It doesn't matter though, because 1080i is a great match for the 1272.
I ran 1080i almost exclusively for most of a year before I upgraded projectors, and it's excellent. Blew people's minds how great it looked. Smokes any <$1500 720p digital, IMHO - especially on a nice screen, 8' wide or less. Blu-ray and HD DVD looked excellent. The optics are just soft enough on the 12xx, that it mostly obscures the 1080i scan lines, making it effectively as close to 1080p as you're going to get with an inexpensive machine.
Set it up at 1080i and enjoy! Work on maximizing top/bottom, center/corner focus, and convergence and enjoy the results!

Dude 1080i will looks fine. Sure it will INPUT a 1080p signal, but it can't resolve it. If the projector is properly set up, 1080i will look fine, some says just as good as 1080p. "1080p" has been heavily marketed as the thing to have, but in CRT projector realm 1080i ain't none too bad.

Run 1080i - trust me, you won't know the difference, nor will you care once you see the picture...

I'll 6th that thought!
I was able to get 1080p using a moome DVI card but picture was soft. Only ran it like that for a few minutes. Went back to 1080i which is great.

Unless you have a top of the line set, 1080i is fine.
Heck, even the cheapie digitals accept 1080p, but downscale it internally. Go figure. Marketing hype to make you feel inadequate.
