So.. with the weak Canadian dollar - the Amazon.com price doesn't seem like much of a bargain at $24.95. We're talking about basically $30 CDN + shipping costs, where-as I can just walk into WalMart or FutureShop tomorrow and pick it up for $32.99 (+tax).

Any advice out there on scoring the best deal?

Roo

The weak US dollar isn't helping us Canadian buyers ... you're right about that.

Kal

The f*cked up US economy is not helping US buyers much either ya know!

Well, I just got my ship notice from Amazon. Looking forward to this one. Probably see it this weekend. And it is a 2.35 movie--those always get me extra excited these days. Wink

SC uses them all the time to load onto his little Mac box for the kids in the main room. If he does not reply here, shoot him a PM pointing him here.

Actually, I've never used one, Dave!!! In fact, I think Wall-E may only be the second BD to market that has the feature, though there are others on the way. I think Sleeping Beauty was the first.

No, I've just been excited to have a "legit" way to load a file onto the AppleTV or iPhone without ripping. I typically use Handbrake to put DVD copies on the AppleTV - that I've done plenty of. The method works awesome for DVD's, but I'm totally screwed with BD's, and I certainly don't want to have to buy a BD AND a DVD of the same movie. The "DisneyFile" as they call it, fixes that problem again.

As I understand it, it uses the DRM built into either iTunes or WindowsMedia and locks the file to your identity, just as if you'd bought it from iTunes or MSN Music or whatever. You use a code that comes in the package, that I assume only works once because it gets deprecated on a web server... i.e. you get one shot and one shot only.

Here's the info on "DisneyFile Digital Copies":
http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/disneyfile/textonly.html

So, who's fired up Wall-E to see what it looks like! I haven't picked it up - I'm dying to know how it looks. Heck, I haven't even SEEN it, yet!

Waiting for my Amazon delivery! We saw it at our great local AMC (1 year old theater using Sony LCoS 4k DCI projectors). It looked awesome (they had a 4K "print" instead of having to scale a 2K "print"). Saw Madagascar 2 last Sunday (also a 4K print) and it was incredible looking--nothing like digital all the way from creation to media! Seriously, I think that theater and the Sony 4K projectors did more to convince me that the future is digital than any other experience. Seeing digitally created works on those is awesome--it has literally got me going back to the commercial theater (however, I still won't go to a film projected presentation of anything unless I absolutely forced to).

Sorry for the misrepresentation. I didn't know how many had that and how many didn't. It seems like I have a couple discs with that feature so I thought it was more common and you were doing it.

Nah, there's way more than that... I probably have at least a dozen movies with a digital copy available either as a separate disc or a download. I pulled off the digital download stickers off the front of at least 2-3 movie cases last week that had the special codes in them to download a copy.

It seems every release from Pixar has me wondering how they could top themselves next time...and yet they do! I couldn't wait to see it so I went to see it at te cinema this summer. Bought the dic the day it was released...Wow! I'd love to see what a 9" machine would do with this. The first half is absolutely brilliant in every aspect, the 2nd half merely excellent. Wall-E really shows what a talented group at the top of their game can do. Here's a few screenshots...

Man I have to agree. I was playing with some stuff last night in the theater and popped this disc in to check out some things. Ended up watching about 40 minutes of it while I just kept thinking "man, I can't believe how good this disc looks".

It's the kind of disc where you forget at times that it's 100% CG. I have an understand about how much work goes into this and some of the stuff they do is just insane.

You guys are KILLING ME!!! I can't WAIT to see this movie. I decided to skip it at the theater so the magical first viewing could be in MY theater. So, the Tuesday it came out, I was going to pick it up, but my wife decided to pick it up for me. Little did I know she had a plan... She decided we'd wait to watch it until her brother and his family was here for Christmas - so we could all watch it together. Arrrgghhhhhh... So, she has it and is it holding somewhere unknown to me so I couldn't sneak a peek. They pulled into town today, so we should be T minus a day or two, now. Can't wait...

Has anybody looked at the easter eggs?

Wow, did my color ever get red! Crop is all in, I'm enjoying the holidays and have some time to fix grayscale and catch up on movies. Sorry about the color of my previous Wall-E shots. Here's what it looks like now...
