I am taking paypal payments for the bellows , Dale has shown me a computer model and as soon as he set up the terms we will begin to schedual the making of the mold and
start production.

Reposted list of Payments

The Bellow List:

Draganm 3 Paid
CRT_Ben 6 Paid
J Kildare 3 Paid

New fee adjustment,
fee is 3.33% for USA and 4.33% for non USA customers, this will keep it close to with a few pennies of what they charge me.
thanks Guys.

Shipping will be figured out once I receive the bellows, remember I do not know for sure How long it will take
Hopefully they can start as soon as I make the First Payment.

Hi guys!!! Talked to Dale earlier today and gave him the first payment Via CC !!!!
Quote:
Tom,

We'll need about 4 weeks to machine the mold and another week to process some parts. If we can do better we will. In the meantime, give me a call so I can get your credit card information squared away. We were going to do 50% down on the tooling, with the remainder due at the time of completion or first part submission. .... We will do a separate bill for parts when you figure out the quantities you need. Thanks again!

I've been buried with projects, but I would like to get you a part drawing by tomorrow.

Dale

Its on its way guys!!!!! I am excited about this effort ,doing my part for the Marquee Community.

That be great... be ready for some work though!!! Having some one here would be more motivation to get the Blend fully set up! But you would have to help me remove my drooped ceiling, the layer of hard foam insulation, a layer of regular insulation, then we'd have to work around the rooms ceiling joist's to get to the hose floor joist to mount the pulley Projector mount of course after having both aligned on the floor and then transferring the mount locations to the floor joists. then we have to pull the Projectors up to the mount while one secures it and the other holds the ropes. you might have to stay two days Very Happy

Just got the updated drawings with new dimensions after i gave him the entire lens assembly to measure and look at how it al fits together. He did a nice cross section of the whole thing. And here is his E-mail to me.

Tom,

I modeled the other components of the lens assembly by taking measurements of the parts provided. I adjusted the outside diameter of the round undercut area of the bellows to more closely match the counterbore (5.830) in the cast aluminum housing as my original model had a diameter larger than the counterbore. Based on the measurements, the gap created between the lens base and the aluminum housing is .044. The total seal thickness at that area including the beads is .065. That puts .021 squeeze on the seal which results in a 32% compression. That is pretty much where we would like to be in terms of compression.

I also updated the part drawing to suit the modification and added some missing dimensions. Also added is an approval sign off box. If the part drawing looks good and you agree with what is shown in the lens assembly, please sign and return the drawing. If you have any questions, give me a call or email.

The drawing is the same except for the new Dimensions so i am not reposting it.

Lens Assembly Cross Section

So I think I am going to sign off on it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the C-element in the "Lens Assembly Cross Section" picture above flipped upside down?

the C-element is pointing up, how could it be up-side down.

I couldn't think of a better way to explain it so I marked up the picture Athan posted. What do you think?

I showed Dale how it was suppose to go together with the C-element Going in. I'll have to call him and let him know he has it inverted.

Ok I sent Ben,s pic to Dale, awaiting his response.

ok Dale corrected the drawing:

Tom,

Here it is again with the C-element in the correct orientation. I just didn't know any better, but it looks like it makes more sense this way. The inside edge of the seal is shown extending into the C-element. Obviously, when installed in the real world, that portion of the seal will deflect out of the way and follow the curve of the C-element. Again, this is based on the measurements of the bellows and mating components provided. I can shorten that extension up if you want to. Let me know what you think.

This looks correct now, And I am letting him know to leave the small excess over hang as it probably adds a bit more "seal" around the lens.

I'm not sure of the stiffness of the material, but it could deflect enough to compromise the seal!!
