I put the tube in the Barco Retro and fired it up. I had one of the amp wires unpluged so the tube red tube did not light up. The new green stayed dark and the blue came on normal. I shut it down and connected the wire. Now it will not even try to start. The ERROR and RCU leds will alternate and then just the standby power is lit and the process one is flashing. Every time you push the stdby button it will just flash the ERROR and RCU leds.

Any ideas as to what is keeping it from starting?

That missing wire would not ahve caused it.

Try a couple of things:

1) Reset the keypad to address 000. (not the remote, the keypad on the retro).

2) Pull the EHT board and see if the fans will go

3) If not, pull the convergence tray and check the same

4) If not, then the SMPS is bad. A fluke that it died as you changed the tube.

I tried setting the power on stus switch to auto start and it still would not start. So then I noticed that when turning it off with the main switch that it would start for a split second before going off. I turned the main power switch on and off about 6 times before I caught it just right and it stayed powered up. It is now running with all three tubes lit and showing a good pic. I have had it running for about 30 minutes now. I hope that after I power it off that it will power on normally.

Well I turned it off after an hour and a half of working good and it would not start back up. I walked away for a bit and came back and it was crackling and trying to start on its own. I turned it off and pulled the power supply out.I put the power supply back in and tried to start it and it started up. I have pulled that power supply about 6 times while trying to get it to start before. I turned it off and back on twice with no problems.

I pulled the power cord out of it and will try again in the morning.

OK, I tried it again this morning. When I turned the main switch on it began to pulsate like it was trying to start itself. I hit the standby button and it started up and worked fine. I hit standby again and it powered off. I have done this a couple of times and it works every time. The thing that bothers me is that when it is in standby the -17 LED is still dimly lit. Should it be completely off like the rest?

This has got to be a problem within the SMPS. I can't see an external part partially failing that could cause this.
