So I'm thinking I'll have a tough choice between the 9500LC or this G90:
http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ele/783228400.html

($1100 for a surplus G90: Not out of the question IMHO, altho with 'lightening strike' odds, given all the tech schools and companies here.)

Send off the email, here's the response:

Hello,

I`m very happy because you are interested for my item, but now i`m in United Kingdom because i have a small business.
The item is still available for sale.
If you want to buy please let me know and give me your full name and full address for i can start the shipping.
Email me back.

Thank you and have a nice day !

My first inclination was to send off a nastygram about this being a small community and that it'll have been informed about this scam by the time my response gets to Llagos.
Instead, I fired back "I'm in Boston! I must inspect this item prior to payment, please provide an address and time when I may see it."

Who wants' to help me F@ck with this putz?

Hello,

I am interested in the G90 you have on Craigslist. My cousin Bruno lives in Boston and would be able to inspect it for me. Can you email me some pictures of the bulbs as my last G90 had pornographic content burned crisply into the bulbs and it wrecked havoc when I donated it to the community center for the childrens movie room.

God Bless,

J. Mackie

That ebay listing is legit. That's the same buyer that I got my G90 from. Chris ("cieinternational") is just a few miles down the road from me. He called me last week and I told him "No Reserve" was the best way to determine the current value.

I'm at MIT for the summer so I told him "just name the time and place" and I'll show up with cash.

If he's at all legit he can't object to that.

Can you tell me if this particular model is a model A or a model T? The reason I ask is because I have one of these, but the darn yellow-LCD stopped functioning. I used my multimeter, and it looks like the magneto went berzerk and is malfunctioning at 200 volts. I didnt have a three prong outlet available, so i jerked out the grounding pin so that I could plug it in and use it, because of that, the chassis is floating to a very high volatge. It shocked the hell out of my maid when she was dusting my home theater room. Long story short, I am in desperate need of the magneto (pn#vbh230001) and maybe even the solid state cable for connecting it. Im not sure about the condition of the cable. I will have to inspect it on Thursday when I get back from my business trip. If this is the right model I need, I can wire you some money to hold the unit for me. I give half for the parts I need, or if you dont want to part it out, I will give you the full sum after I pick it up. What kind of deposit do you need to hold it for me? Does 30% sound good? Give me the word and I can paypal it to you or just do a bank transfer. BTW what part of Boston are you in?

Ovlio Jones Jr.

I really hope he takes the 30% deposit!!!

Edit: Theres no question that the ebay ad is legit. The craigslist guy is a d-bag.

Now I'm tempted to bid on that G90 on Ebay, the price is certainly agreeable.

Listen... it is a VERY small community of people who pursue these old projectors. Please go find some other commodity with which to defraud people.

I would not say we are a small community, in fact I think there are more of us than we realize. But we are a very well communicated community. I am curious to see what his next response is!!

$2660.00, not bad.

Wow. So, how much is a new green LUG? Including the green LUG and shipping, how much is the buyer really going to pay for that G90? I'm curious what the value's down to, now. Looks like just a couple more years of falling prices until I can afford one... Twisted Evil

Shipping was free and I think you can get a new tube for under $900. That makes for one hell of a deal, man, I can't wait until I have a nice enough place to justify one of those....
