I've received a lvps that Curt sent me and without any tax fees
Since there are no switches on the outside I suppose I can feed it 230V without any harm
Is this correct, say YES because I want to play with my Vision one

My broken lvps has 2 boxes ticked (100/120V and 200/240V).
On Curt's lvps none is ticked but it's exactly the same type as my broken lvps

Check the filament voltage, and adjust the G2s.

The thing that makes me wonder is why the horizontal lines at brighter than vertical.
Some form of beam current limiter?

Sorry I meant the other way around. Vertical brighter than horizontal.
Squeezing should not make any difference in brightness.

You need to do as Curt suggests and check the filament voltage. After you've applied the fix/mod for that, then null all the settings and start from square one. Keep in mind not all settings will null when you select a Full Reinitialization from the menu. You'll have to go in and zero/null those manually...then start your setup from square one.
It's exciting to see them light up for the first time tho isn't it.

Ok here are some all-wrong pics
I've put HD300 lenses on it to start with.
The picture looked like meant for a curved screen, it was imploded egg shaped
For now it seems that the convergence is for all colours together, I want to setup each color seperated.
Also the chassis is reported as a 8500, I don't know if this is because it's a Vidikron Vision 1 .....

The menu pic that shows Horiz Scan: Green Plug? is trying to tell you that the green horizontal deflection yoke is plugged in opposite of the other two. Turn projector off before you fix that.

The PJ info is kept on a chip on the back plane board. This may have started as an 8500 and built up to a Vision one. Another option is the back plane was damaged by a Glycol leak and they replaced it with one form an 8500.
Or worse you got and 8500 and they said it was a vision one, and put in 9 inch tubes. See if your serial numbers match from the software screen and the sticker on the front.
I thought i was getting a refrence 8 and got a striped down PJ with parts replaced from an 8000, some times you have to ask for pics of all board part numbers
when buying a PJ.

Ok I've got BIG BIG troubles now
I changed the green horizontal connector (on the cable) to get rid of the error in the menu and that worked out ok.
The green pattern was more shaped like red and blue so all looked fine.
The error in the menu was gone and it showed 'normal'.
Then suddenly there were 3 flashes and loud snaps on the back near the neckboards
The blue tube neck seems to be broken as I can turn and move it's neckboard a little
What the hell has happened, the filament voltage still is as it should be and the others (5V, 15V etc) too.
I'm an experienced (Sony) crt user and I've never seen this before
That the repair will be very expensive should be clear, what a bummer!
First I want to know what did go wrong as I can't see any broken parts on the neck boards and the other boards ....

The first flash was on blue, then green and red followed within a split second so there was no time to remove the power
I'm affraid the other tubes are gone too, things couldn't go worse then this

Take a deep breath and count to 10. (or maybe 1000 in this case...)
Tubes are tough and rather difficult to damage electronically. Maby a HV-leak somewhere and it went into protection mode? HV-snaps can be really loud and scary.
Wait for some marquee guru's to give advise on troubleshooting HV-problems.
You can always run your marquee with the HV-power supply removed. It allows you to check every voltage or every circuit but HV. This allows for relatively safe troubleshooting.
Does anybody know if the marquee runs fully (except HV) without the HV power supply?

The neck of the blue tube is really loose, it seems to move from nearby the black plastic coils housing.
A HV leak is certainly possible looking to the cables crossing each other above the tubes.
I don't know how to continue now, maybe it looks worse then it really is

It was clearly on the neck, I didn't see a flash on the screen and the picture was gone after the 3 flashes.
I think that it could have started on blue and then travelled via the focus cables to the others.
When I switch the Marquee on it cycles the relays each second and it shows a lvps error.
On the lvps the most left led lights up, with and without the hvps installed.
