Hi! Just curious what's going on in Florida with CRT Projectors.
I've never owned a nice TV before, or any projector (apart from my 16mm) but everything I'm reading about CRT projectors makes them seem grand.
Just wanted to know if there were any to see in Florida, or if anyone selling them could be found in the area to avoid shipping costs and possible damage.
Thanks much, bye!

Ummmmmm.
Since our illustrious host is in CRT SALES... the rule is there's no crt selling here...
So inquiring about a sale might violate the rule...

Not a problem. Everyone here (almost) owns a CRT and will have NO ONE pry it out of their hands... I'm not concerned.. But yeah, no blatant 'hey, I've got one, and it's cheaper than Curt's' type of posts. That will just piss me off..

You shouldn't have much problem finding a CRT projector owner in Florida. I think half of them probably came from Disney, NASA, the airlines, etc. You could always do a search of members and start sending messages to people letting them know you are interested in seeing their setup. You can always do that and then come back here to find a nice clean, well looked over CRT to buy from Curt.

Sorry Curt! I'm not really familiar with the way things work in the CRT Projector world yet. I like the selection on your site and I'd be happy to order from you once I've got the $'s. In my past experience with turntables, I've found that it's worth extra time/trouble/expense to get your equipment from someone who's very experienced in the technical workings of the product, rather than, say, buying the same product from someone who's pricing it well below its value but has no clue how to maintain, fix or inspect the thing.
Just the same, it would be kind of funny to get a CRT projector that was originally from Disney from a guy in Canada, when I live about 40 minutes' drive away from Disney.
From everything that I'm reading about CRT Projectors, I'm really keen to get one myself - they sure sound like they're much more reliable and capable than the digital stuff. I guess at this point I'm just curious about what visual differences there are between the projectors immediately within my price range ($200-$600) and those that I'd need to save for ($2kish.) Memories of smeary, blurry in-flight movies from my childhood (before they began to use seperate TV's and then, later, seat-mounted LCDs) just cause me to be a little wary of what the cheaper models might look like, so I just want to see various kinds in operation, if I can manage to.

I saw that. But the projected image doesn't look very good, nor have they any idea of the condition of the tubes. If it were an intermediate-level pj, I'd be a bit more inclined...
But what do you guys think? $50 to take a chance? That's $50 I could put towards a sure thing...so I just dunno.
But thanks anyhow, I'll keep an eye on it.

A 1031 is 20 years old at this point. Get a BArco 801 or Sony 12XX for well under $500 on Craigslist or eBay locally, then come back when you want to upgrade to a 9" set. Warranty or not, it's really hard to justify a $250 shipping bill from Van to Fl on a $500 projector...

Well, I figure that the old saying, "Buy cheap, buy again," holds true - so, at this point, should I not find a "quick fix" at around, say, $300ish or less, I'd just save up to buy a proper 9" that I could count on for a decade.
