One of my AmPro's has a slight darkening of the lower half of the screen. It's on all three colors and it's not wear. It has a distinct line half way up and is more noticable on the left side and fades away to almost not detectable on the right. It moves with master shift. I've never seen this before.Any thoughts? Thanks,

I have seen similar when the image was off the edge of the tube.

Curious Chip, but can you see it with the internal test patterns also?

I have as well and sometimes related to vertical position and/or phase

Do a code 55. I'll bet it goes away. I've seen this before. Similar to the line of coincidence in a Barco.

You don't see it on internal test patterns as you can only see it on whight or bright areas on the screen ans AmPro's don't have full white test patterns.
If it goes away with a "55[code]" what's the problem? I can't live with registration off forever

I thought about the Ampro not having an all white test pattern when I posted (Have a few Ampro's myself) but was wondering if you could see the darkeneing on the lower half you also mentioned.
Curt's suggestion is to determine if geometry is causing the line and is worth looking into. Just not sure about the darkening though, but you have to start somewhere. If it does go away on a code 55 I would then bring up a fine test pattern with green only (main) and look for any incosistencies the pattern. I've never been able to produce a line with the type of adjustments on an Ampro, but it should be checked.
You said you can see the line and the darkeneing on all 3 tubes. Is this looking in the lenses or on the screen. If on the screen how can you tell it's all 3?

It's on screen. I can turn off the other two colors while watching something and see it. It's not burn or wear as I can move the line with shift. I have no time to play with it till this weekend. I'm on call at work 24/7 till Friday AM while still working my regular shift. What ever is causing it, it's doing it on all saved memory locations. I have plenty of parts to swap in if needed. I was hoping to save time by asking here so I wouldn't have to resort to the "shot-gun" method.

Well see there, that explains why I could never get a line. I always felt those settings were not and should not be used and I always set them to 50. Never messed around with them to see what would happen.

Well, I guess I'll have to check that out this weekend. That sounds like exactly what is happening. When my original green imploded, I stole a tube from my other 4600 and did a quickie setup. It's been there ever since. It's hardly noticeable. In fact I'm the only one that sees it
