I have 2 greens, one of which is fast phosphor.

Nice to have a spare for the tube that is likely to wear the fastest.
It's fine with me that you're not looking to sell anything, I'm casually looking for a blue tube but I'm not looking to pay the price so I may be searching for a while 
I have $25 into my G70 so far and I don't want to spend much more than that on tubes

Maybe on the projectors, but the same guy also bought several pallets of crt computer monitors and a bunch of pentium II laptops with no batteries or chargers. |
the computer stuff doesn't surprise me actually. This is the same thing that happens here at the big University auctions. Literally 6 foot tall pallet loads of old PC's are bought up for $500. a Pallet. At first I thoguht these guy were loony, but then I relaized what they were doing.
Sure, a Pen2 is something that no one in the US would touch but you have to keep in mind that we have the whole continent of south america below us where ANY computer is valuable. So in a sense I think we can all feel good about public auctions. It keeps stuff we throw away out of land-fills and gives some poor kid in Mexico or Guatemala a chance to learn how to use a computer.

Of course until they come to the US and demand a SOTA computer or they and their kids will be left behind.  Not to go to OT, but why is a computer so important for education? I am sick of hearing about kids being left behind, because they lack a SOTA computer.

You're right, that's got to be one of them. He mentions in the listing that he has another one available.
How much is the listing fee to start something at $999? In other words, how much did he just throw away? I'm really tempted to email him with a "told you so" after it gets relisted next week.

He has probably not learned that playing with big lenses outside is a bad thing. Regardless how careful you are. One slip and the tubes are gone.

I don't think those CRTs are all that bad. Still usable. Not worth $1000 to an educated buyer.

I'm a bit bored, so I sent a question to the seller:
Hi,
Don't you feel a little greedy trying to sell it for over $650, when
you only paid $90 for it? I told you at the auction that you'd
never get $900 for it, but you didn't believe me, did you? And
what happened - no bids the first time you listed it. It's still
priced a bit high, by the way. You should start it off at about
$250, with no reserve and a buy it now of $600. Then you
might get someone to take a chance on it. And you'll still be into
some decent profit.
I got this response about 45 minutes later:
Hey,
This almost sold to two different buyers the 1st time. There is a ton of interest at this point now. Yes if the tubes were a little better, it would have sold for 900.00. There are some burn marks on them. One seller is asking 1250.00 and another sold for 670.00 so I'm not too out of line, greedy or not.
Sounds to me like he's still in a bit of denial about the value.

I don' t think it's fair to call him greedy. He took a chance and gambled on those machines. They could both have been broken and had burnt tubes so if he makes a few hundred bucks on one then he earned it. As long as he's being accurate and fair with the descriptions then he's doing nothing worng.
Are you sure your not just feeling a little resentful that you didn't get the better one?
